Description ''Olearia stellulata'' is a shrub that typically grows to a height of up to , its branchlets densely covered with yellowish, star-shaped hairs. Its leaves are lance-shaped or narrowly elliptic, long and wide with about 5 to 10 teeth on each side. The upper surface of mature leaves is glabrous, the lower surface densely covered with yellowish, star-shaped hairs. In Asteraceae, the pappus is the modified calyx, the part of an individual floret, that surrounds the base of the corolla tube in flower. It functions as a wind-dispersal mechanism for the seeds. ''Prodromus Systematis Naturalis Regni Vegetabilis'' (1824–1873), also known by its standard botanical abbreviation ''Prodr. (DC.)'', is a 17-volume treatise on botany initiated by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle.
