James Oldknow
James Oldknow (12 March 1873 – 10 September 1944) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derbyshire in 1901. Oldknow was born in Denby, Derbyshire, the son of William Wheatcroft Oldknow, a coal miner, and his wife Jane. Oldknow made his first-class debut for Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1901, Derbyshire in the 1901 season in a game in May against Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Yorkshire, when he took 3 wickets for 123 in the first innings. He took a wicket and two catches in his next and last game against Surrey County Cricket Club, Surrey. Oldknow was a right-arm medium-pace bowler and took 4 first-class wickets at an average of 40.50 and a best performance of 3-123. He was a right-handed batsman and played 4 innings in 2 first-class matches at an average of 2.33 and a highest score of 7 not out. Oldknow died in Belper at the age of 71. References

Octavius Thomas Oldknow
Octavius Thomas Oldknow (12 April 1786 - 7 November 1854) was Sheriff of Nottingham 1806–07, Mayor of Nottingham in 1822 and 1829, and Postmaster of Nottingham from 1846 to 1854. History He was born on 12 April 1786 in Nottingham, the son of Joseph Oldknow (1746-1808) and Mary Robert (1746-1824). He married Susanna Wilson (1793-1828), second daughter of the Revd. Samuel Oldknow
Samuel Oldknow (1756–1828) was an English cotton manufacturer. Samuel Oldknow Jnr, the eldest son of Samuel Oldknow Sr and Margery Foster, was born 5 October 1756 in Anderton, near Chorley, Lancashire, and died 18 September 1828 at Mellor Lodge, Derbyshire. He had an younger sister named Elizabeth (1758-1762) ccording to the grave at Rivington Unitarian Chapeland a brother, Thomas (c.1755/56-1791 d.aged 35 according to the grave at Mellor Parish Church). Oldknow was educated at the local Rivington Grammar School and later served as an apprentices in his uncle’s draper’s shop in Nottingham. His family were members of the Rivington Unitarian Chapel, where his father was interred in 1759 at the age of 25. Following the death of his father, Oldknow's mother Margery continued to live with the children at Roscoe Lowe Farm, one of the properties she had inherited from her father Thomas Foster a local yeoman.
