Old Bunbury Railway Station
The Old Bunbury railway station was the main railway station for Bunbury from 1894 until 1996. It was the terminus for the ''Australind'' passenger railway service from Perth. It was replaced in May 1985 by the current Bunbury Terminal in East Bunbury. History The original structure was constructed in the 1880s; the railway was not connected to Perth at that stage. On 14 November 1894, the first station opened as the terminus for the South Western Railway. Bunbury is a coastal city in the Australian state of Western Australia, approximately south of the state capital, Perth. It is the state's third most populous city after Perth and Mandurah, with a population of approximately 75,000. Located at the south of the Leschenault Estuary, Bunbury was established in 1836 on the orders of Governor James Stirling, and named in honour of its founder, Lieutenant (at the time) Henry Bunbury. A port was constructed on the existing natural harbour soon after, and eventually became the main port for the wider South West region. Albany railway station is a railway station in Albany, Western Australia. History and overview It was constructed in 1888 by the Great Southern Land Company. It was a passenger railway station on the Western Australian Government Railways services, from 1961 until the end of the running of the '' Albany Progress'' in 1978. Overview The magazine's publisher is the Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS), NSW Division. The first issue was published in March 1963 under the name ''New South Wales Digest'' and regular publication commenced with the May 1963 edition. It was renamed in January 1983. In January 1985 it changed paper size from SRA5 to A4. Pemberton, Western Australia
Pemberton is a town in the South West region of Western Australia, named after original settler Pemberton Walcott. History The region was originally occupied by the Bibbulmun people who knew the area as Wandergarup, which in their language meant 'plenty of water'. Following an expedition to the area in 1861 by Edward Reveley Brockman, his brother-in-law Gerald de Courcy Lefroy and his uncle Pemberton Walcott, in 1862 Brockman established Warren House homestead and station on the Warren River; Walcott, after whom the town would be named, established ''Karri Dale'' farm on the northern outskirts of the later townsite; and Lefroy established a farm and flour mill on Lefroy Brook (the current site of the 100 Year Forest).
