Ohio State Buckeyes Men's Ice Hockey
The Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that represents Ohio State University. The Buckeyes are a member of the Big Ten Conference. They play at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. History The Ohio State Buckeyes men's ice hockey program began in 1963, the team played at the new Ohio State Ice Rink, constructed in 1961. The Buckeyes were a founding member of the CCHA in 1971. The Buckeyes won the inaugural 1972 CCHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament with a 3–0 win over Saint Louis University. One of the team's most successful seasons came in 1997–1998, the year before the Buckeyes moved into new the 17,500-seat Value City Arena, which replaced the aging and undersized (1,400-seat) Ohio State Ice Rink. Steve Rohlik
Steve Rohlik () is an American ice hockey head coach and former player. In April 2013 he became head coach in charge of the men's program at Ohio State. Career Rohlik got his start at the college level as a player for Wisconsin in the late '80's. He spent four years playing for the Badgers, spending two campaigns as team captain and winning a national title in his senior season. After graduating with a degree in Communications/Journalism Rohlik became an assistant for his alma mater for a year before pursuing an abbreviated professional career with the Knoxville Cherokees. During that year he also served as an assistant with Stillwater Area High School but left to become the head coach for the Hill-Murray School, a secondary school near his home town. In 1997 Rohlik left Minnesota and returned to the college ranks as an assistant for the new program at Nebraska–Omaha under Mike Kemp. American Collegiate Hockey Association
The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) is a college ice hockey association. The ACHA's purpose is to be an organization of collegiate affiliated non-varsity programs, which provides structure, regulates operations, and promotes quality in collegiate ice hockey. The ACHA currently has three men's and two women's divisions and includes approximately 450 teams from across the United States. Teams offer few athletic scholarships and typically receive far less university funding. Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic
The Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic was a college ice hockey game played on a makeshift ice rink covering the field at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The game was the second outdoor game involving US college teams, the first being "The Cold War". The matchup pitted the men's ice hockey programs from the visiting Ohio State University Buckeyes and the host University of Wisconsin–Madison Badgers. The Boston University Terriers men’s ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team that represents Boston University. They played their first game in 1918 and have won five national championships, while making 22 appearances in the Frozen Four. The Alaska Nanooks men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Nanooks are an Independent. They play at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks, Alaska. History Early history (1925–1973) Varsity hockey at Alaska-Fairbanks began in 1925. The team played four games during the inaugural 1925–26 season and finished the season with a 3–1–0 record despite having no coach.
