''Officer 666'' is a lost film, lost 1920 American silent film, silent comedy film directed by Harry Beaumont and starring Tom Moore (actor), Tom Moore. It is based on a 1912 Broadway play that originally starred Wallace Eddinger. Versions of the story were filmed in 1914 and Officer 666 (1916 film), 1916. This version was produced and distributed by Goldwyn Pictures. Harry Beaumont
Harry Beaumont (10 February 1888 – 22 December 1966) was an American film director, actor, and screenwriter. He worked for a variety of production companies including 20th Century Fox, Fox, Goldwyn Pictures Corporation, Goldwyn, Metro Pictures Corporation, Metro, Warner Brothers, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Career Beaumont's greatest successes were during the silent film era, when he directed films including John Barrymore's ''Beau Brummel (1924 film), Beau Brummel'' (1924) and the silent youth movie ''Our Dancing Daughters'' (1928), featuring Joan Crawford. He then directed MGM's first talkie musical, ''The Broadway Melody'' (1929). The latter film won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Picture Academy Award that year, and Beaumont was nominated for Academy Award for Best Director, Best Director. Raymond Hatton
Raymond William Hatton (July 7, 1887 – October 21, 1971) was an American film actor who appeared in almost 500 motion pictures. Biography Hatton was born in Red Oak, Iowa. His physician father steered him toward a career in medicine. However, Hatton had become enamored of being on stage after he acted in a school play, and he left home to go into acting as a career. Hatton was part of a vaudeville act that went to Hollywood in 1911. There, he established a successful silent film career, including a stint being paired in 1920s comedies with Wallace Beery. During the sound era, though, his career soon skidded and he usually played smaller supporting roles, including the tobacco-chewing, rowdy character Rusty Joslin in ''The Three Mesquiteers'' Western B picture series. George Kuwa
George Kuwa (born Keichii Kuwahara) was a Japanese and American Issei (Japanese immigrant) film actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1916 and 1931. He was the first actor to portray Charlie Chan on-screen in the 1926 film serial ''The House Without a Key''.Hanke (1989), xii. Biography According to contemporaneous reports, Kuwa was born in Hiroshima, Japan. His father was a judge and wanted George to follow suit. Kuwa moved to the U.S. around 1916 or 1917 and began a career in Hollywood. Like many Japanese actors of the era, he often played Chinese characters. He made several films in Japan as well before returning to the U.S.; he died in Los Angeles in 1931 at the age of 46. Maurice Bennett Flynn (May 26, 1892 – March 4, 1959) was an American football player and actor. He was also known as "Lefty" Flynn because in football, he kicked with his left foot. Biography Flynn was born in Greenwich, Connecticut on May 26, 1892. He later attended Yale University starting in 1910. He was expelled from Yale in January 1913 after he married Irene Leary, a chorus girl. They separated after 11 days, and their divorce became final in 1914. In 1916 he married Blanche Shove Palmer and they had two children, including basketball player and broadcaster Bud Palmer. Between 1919 and 1927, Flynn appeared in 40 feature films, often as the lead actor, and sometimes as a sports hero or daring adventurer. He moved to Tryon, North Carolina and was married for the third time to Nora Langhorne Phipps.
