The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland ( pl, Kancelaria Prezydenta Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej), instituted in 1989, is a governmental institution composed of the immediate staff of the President of Poland that assists and is governed by the President. The objective of the Chancellery is to provide assistance to the President in its multiple echelons of staff, which include the Presidential cabinet and the Chancellery of National Security. The Chief of the Chancellery (''Szef Kancelarii'') heads the institution; the Chief is appointed by and immediately responsible to the President. The president of Poland ( pl, Prezydent RP), officially the president of the Republic of Poland ( pl, Prezydent Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej), is the head of state of Poland. Their rights and obligations are determined in the Constitution of Poland. The president heads the executive branch. In addition, the president has a right to dissolve parliament in certain cases, can veto legislation and represents Poland in the international arena. History The first president of Poland, Gabriel Narutowicz, was sworn in as president of the Second Polish Republic on 11 December 1922. Krzysztof Zbigniew Pusz (born 21 June 1951 in Gdańsk) is a Polish politician and lawyer. A graduate of the University of Gdańsk, he was involved in the Solidarity movement since its beginnings. He was an organizer of the Interim Coordination Commission of Solidarity. Later he was a secretary in the Solidarity's leader, Lech Wałęsa, office. Pusz became a director of the Central Solidarity Office and served in this position in 1989. When Wałęsa was elected President in 1990, Pusz was appointed a minister of state in the Office of the President and became Chief of Presidential Cabinet. Bronisław Komorowski
Bronisław Maria Komorowski (; born 4 June 1952) is a Polish politician and historian who served as President of Poland from 2010 to 2015. Komorowski served as Minister of Defence from 2000 to 2001. As Marshal of the Sejm, Komorowski exercised the powers and duties of head of state following the death of President Lech Kaczyński in a plane crash on 10 April 2010. Komorowski was then the governing Civic Platform party's candidate in the resulting presidential election, which he won in the second round of voting on 4 July 2010.
