Even And Odd Numbers
In mathematics, parity is the property of an integer of whether it is even or odd. An integer is even if it is a multiple of two, and odd if it is not.. For example, −4, 0, 82 are even because \begin -2 \cdot 2 &= -4 \\ 0 \cdot 2 &= 0 \\ 41 \cdot 2 &= 82 \end By contrast, −3, 5, 7, 21 are odd numbers. The above definition of parity applies only to integer numbers, hence it cannot be applied to numbers like 1/2 or 4.201. See the section "Higher mathematics" below for some extensions of the notion of parity to a larger class of "numbers" or in other more general settings. Even and odd numbers have opposite parities, e.g., 22 (even number) and 13 (odd number) have opposite parities. In particular, the parity of zero is even. Any two consecutive integers have opposite parity. A number (i.e., integer) expressed in the decimal numeral system is even or odd according to whether its last digit is even or odd. That is, if the last digit is 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9, then it is odd; otherw ...

Even And Odd Functions
In mathematics, even functions and odd functions are functions which satisfy particular symmetry relations, with respect to taking additive inverses. They are important in many areas of mathematical analysis, especially the theory of power series and Fourier series. They are named for the parity of the powers of the power functions which satisfy each condition: the function f(x) = x^n is an even function if ''n'' is an even integer, and it is an odd function if ''n'' is an odd integer. Definition and examples Evenness and oddness are generally considered for real functions, that is real-valued functions of a real variable. However, the concepts may be more generally defined for functions whose domain and codomain both have a notion of additive inverse. This includes abelian groups, all rings, all fields, and all vector spaces. Thus, for example, a real function could be odd or even (or neither), as could a complex-valued function of a vector variable, and so on. The given e ...

Even And Odd Permutations
In mathematics, when ''X'' is a finite set with at least two elements, the permutations of ''X'' (i.e. the bijective functions from ''X'' to ''X'') fall into two classes of equal size: the even permutations and the odd permutations. If any total ordering of ''X'' is fixed, the parity (oddness or evenness) of a permutation \sigma of ''X'' can be defined as the parity of the number of inversions for ''σ'', i.e., of pairs of elements ''x'', ''y'' of ''X'' such that and . The sign, signature, or signum of a permutation ''σ'' is denoted sgn(''σ'') and defined as +1 if ''σ'' is even and −1 if ''σ'' is odd. The signature defines the alternating character of the symmetric group S''n''. Another notation for the sign of a permutation is given by the more general Levi-Civita symbol (''ε''''σ''), which is defined for all maps from ''X'' to ''X'', and has value zero for non-bijective maps. The sign of a permutation can be explicitly expressed as : where ''N''(''σ'' ...

Odd Della Robbia
''Code Lyoko'' () is a French animated television series created by Thomas Romain and Tania Palumbo and produced by Antefilms Production (season 1) and MoonScoop Group (seasons 2-4) for France 3 and Canal J, with the participation of Conseil Général de la Charente, Pôle Image Magelis, Région Poitou-Charentes and Wallimage. The series centers on a group of teenagers who travel to the virtual world of Lyoko to battle against a malignant artificial intelligence known as X.A.N.A. who threatens Earth with powers to access the real world and cause trouble. The scenes in the real world employ traditional animation with hand-painted backgrounds, while the scenes in Lyoko are presented in 3D CGI animation. The series began its first, 97-episode run on 3 September 2003, on France's France 3, and ended on 10 November 2007. It started airing in the United States on 19 April 2004 on Cartoon Network. Odd Thomas (character)
Odd Thomas is a fictional character who first appeared in Dean Koontz's 2003 novel of the same name, '' Odd Thomas''. He is a twenty-year-old man who lives in the fictional desert town of Pico Mundo, California, and is able to see the spirits of the dead. He is able to make himself heard to them but they cannot speak to him, although they may make signs or mouth words. This fact complicates much of the books. The ghost of Elvis Presley was once a constant companion to him, until the end of ''Brother Odd'', at which time Elvis moved on and the ghost of Frank Sinatra became Odd's new companion. Sinatra similarly left at the end of ''Odd Hours'', shortly after an impressive display of poltergeist activity. In the fifth novel '' Odd Apocalypse'' he is visited by the ghost of Alfred Hitchcock, although he explains that he wishes to help him, but does not have enough time at the moment while trying to discover the secrets of the estate of Roseland. Mr. Hitchcock appears again in the six ...

Plot summary Odd is a young Norseman whose father, a woodcutter, drowned during a Viking raid. Soon after he accidentally crushes his leg and his Scottish mother marries a fat widower who neglects him in favor of his own children, and when soon after the winter drags on unnaturally long, Odd leaves his village for the forest. There he meets a fox, an eagle and a bear, the latter with its paw trapped in a tree. Odd aids the bear, and tries to feed him. The bear accepted and was actually hungry. Therefore Odd would always feed him. But as time passed by, he learns that these are not normal animals, but the gods Loki, Odin and Thor. Storm-class Patrol Boat
The ''Storm''-class patrol boat was a series of fast patrol boats (FPB) consisting of 20 vessels built for the Royal Norwegian Navy. In Norwegian these boats were called ''missilkanonbåter'' (MKB) meaning boats with missiles and guns. They were operated by the Coastal Combat Flotilla together with the MTBs, or missile torpedo boats. None of the boats are currently in service with the Royal Norwegian Navy. The design was Norwegian and all of the boats were built by Norwegian ship yards from 1965 to 1967. In the 1990s, Norway donated vessels of the class to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Design The ''Storm'' class was designed by Lieutenant-Commander (later Captain) Harald Henriksen. The same man was also involved in the design of the ''Rapp''-class motor torpedo boats - the first Norwegian-built MTBs. Later, he also designed the ''Snøgg''- and ''Hauk''-class MTBs. Henriksen's wife, Margot Henriksen, christened the first KNM ''Skjold'' (P 963), delivered to the Norwegian navy i ...

Odd, West Virginia
Odd is an unincorporated rural hamlet in Raleigh County, West Virginia, United States. It is located along Tommy Creek. Only a post office is located there, with small residences spread along the nearby roads. History The community's unusual name has attracted attention from writers. Townspeople were encouraged to think of an "odd" name for their town, hence the name. Odd went viral in 2020 when Mark Laita's YouTube channel, '' Soft White Underbelly'', posted a video of the Whittaker family, long-time residents of the small town who are allegedly inbred Inbreeding is the production of offspring from the mating or breeding of individuals or organisms that are closely related genetically.
