Octopus (Scottish Band)
Octopus were a Britpop band from Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland formed in 1993. They had three hit singles before splitting up in 1997. History The band was formed in Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland (near Glasgow) by schoolfriends Marc Shearer (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Alan McSeveney (guitar), Steven McSeveney (bass guitar) and Bob Holmes (drums). Shotts
Shotts is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located almost halfway between Glasgow () and Edinburgh (). The village has a population of about 8,840. A local story has Shotts being named after the legendary giant highwayman Bertram de Shotts, though Toponymy, toponymists give the Anglo-Saxons, Anglo-Saxon ("steep slopes") as the real source of the name. Shotts is the home of the 2015 World Pipe Band Championships, world champion pipe band, Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band. Sleeper (band)
Sleeper are an English rock band formed in London in 1992. The group had eight UK Top 40 hit singles and three UK Top 10 albums during the 1990s. Their music was also featured in the soundtrack of the pop cultural hit movie '' Trainspotting''. The band split up in 1998, but reunited in 2017. Britpop Groups
Britpop was a mid-1990s British-based music culture movement that emphasised Britishness. It produced brighter, catchier alternative rock, partly in reaction to the popularity of the darker lyrical themes of the US-led grunge music and to the UK's own shoegaze music scene. The movement brought British alternative rock into the mainstream and formed the backbone of a larger British popular cultural movement, Cool Britannia, which evoked the Swinging Sixties and the British guitar pop of that decade. Britpop was a media-driven focus on bands which emerged from the independent music scene of the early 1990s. Adem Ilhan
Adem Ilhan (born 20 November 1977) is an English composer, producer and singer-songwriter. He has released many albums: his solo music project released under the name Adem, in the acclaimed post-rock band Fridge, alongside Kieran Hebden, and as part of the electronic duo Silver Columns with Johnny Lynch. He has scored several feature films and television series and numerous documentaries. Recording history Ilhan's debut solo album, '' Homesongs'', appeared on Domino Records in 2004. Ben Christophers
Benjamin John Christophers (born 1969) is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. To date he has released five albums: the first two on Virgin Records' V2 label, the third on Cooking Vinyl and the two most recent on his own label, Rocketeer. He collaborated with French singer Françoise Hardy, for whom he wrote the song "La Folie ordinaire" released on her album "Tant de belles choses" in 2004. On 12 February 2006 he sang a duet, "My Beautiful Demon", on her follow-up album entitled ''Parenthèses''. In 2001, Christophers performed in support of Tori Amos whilst promoting his critically acclaimed album ''Spoonface''.
