La Sagra Observatory ( es, Observatorio Astronómico de La Sagra; OLS; observatory code: L98) is an astronomical observatory located in the province of Granada, Spain. It uses four robotic telescopes both designed and built ( hardware and software) by the scientists of the Observatorio Astronómico de Mallorca (OAM) who operate them remotely by telecontrol daily, discharging data from Mallorca using the Internet, to process them by means of algorithms designed "in house" which helped to detect asteroid 367943 Duende. among the other 1706 asteroids, with a 12th place in the ranking of asteroid discoveries. Its activities include, as part of its La Sagra Sky Survey, tracking small Solar System bodies, particularly near-Earth objects, and space debris. Miguel Hurtado
Miguel Hurtado (born 22 April 1978 in Málaga, Spain) is a Spanish astronomer and a software developer at OAM's La Sagra Observatory, where he participated in the discovery of minor planets, comets, and supernovae. Miguel Hurtado has listed the discovery of more than 2300 asteroids including 76 near-earth objects such as 2012 DA14, as well as 5 comets and 19 supernovae. As of 2017, all numbered asteroids are credited by the Minor Planet Center to Mallorca Observatory, OAM. Jaime Nomen, his college and collaborator at the La Sagra Sky Survey (LSSS), was awarded the Shoemaker NEO Grant in 2010. 324P/La Sagra
324P/La Sagra is an active asteroid with an orbital period of 5.44 years. It has been found to be active in more than one perihelia, indicating that the source of activity is sublimation. The asteroid was first noticed in images taken by La Sagra Observatory on 14.9 September 2010 with a 0.45-m f/2.8 reflector by J. Nomen, who also noticed it was diffuse. The asteroid was also found in images obtained in 13 August, but showed no cometary features. On 17 September was noticed that it has a coma with a diameter of 6 arcseconds and a tail 11 arcseconds long. The comet was recovered on 21 March 2015 by Scott S. Sheppard at Las Campanas Observatory. 367943 Duende (provisional designation ) is a micro- asteroid and a near-Earth object of the Aten and Atira group, approximately in diameter. It was discovered by astronomers of the Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca at its robotic La Sagra Observatory in 2012, and named for the duende, a goblin-like creature from Iberian and Filipino mythology and folklore.
