Aztec Camera were a Scottish pop/ new wave band founded by Roddy Frame, the group's singer, songwriter, and only consistent member. Formed in 1980, Aztec Camera released a total of six studio albums: ''High Land, Hard Rain'' (1983), ''Knife'' (1984), ''Love'' (1987), '' Stray'' (1990), '' Dreamland'' (1993), and ''Frestonia'' (1995). High Land, Hard Rain
''High Land, Hard Rain'' is the debut album by jangle pop band Aztec Camera, released in 1983. Three tracks from the album originally appeared on the '' Oblivious'' EP, which reached number 18 on the UK Singles Chart when re-released in November 1983. The album itself reached number 22 on the UK Albums Chart. Recording and content The majority of the album was recorded at the ICC Studios in Eastbourne. The album included two early songs by Roddy Frame, "We Could Send Letters" written in 1979 and "Lost Outside the Tunnel" which was performed by Frame's pre-Aztec Camera band Neutral Blue. Rough Trade Records
Rough Trade Records is an independent record label based in London, England. It was formed in 1976 by Geoff Travis who had opened a record store off Ladbroke Grove. Having successfully promoted and sold records by punk rock and early post-punk and indie pop bands such as the Normal and Desperate Bicycles, Travis began to manage acts and distribute bands such as Scritti Politti and began the label, which was informed by left-wing politics and structured as a co-operative. Sire Records (formerly Sire Records Company) is an American record label owned by Warner Music Group and distributed by Warner Records. Roddy Frame
Roddy Frame (born 29 January 1964) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician. He was the founder of the 1980s new wave band Aztec Camera and has undertaken a solo career since the group's dissolution. In November 2013, journalist Brian Donaldson described Frame as: "Aztec Camera wunderkind-turned-elder statesman of intelligent, melodic, wistful Scotpop." Since the end of the Aztec Camera project, Frame has released four solo albums, the last of which is 2014's ''Seven Dials''. Early life Frame grew up in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. New Wave Music
