OHL Executive Of The Year
The OHL Executive of the Year Award was given annually to the top executive in the Ontario Hockey League, whose team demonstrates success both on the ice, and at the administration level. It was first awarded in 1989–90 OHL season. The most recent winner, Mike Vellucci is the first person in OHL history to be named both executive and coach of the year in the same season. The awarded has not been given out since 2013. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. In ice hockey, two opposing teams use ice hockey sticks to control, advance and shoot a closed, vulcanized, rubber disc called a " puck" into the other team's goal. Each goal is worth one point. The team which scores the most goals is declared the winner. In a formal game, each team has six skaters on the ice at a time, barring any penalties, one of whom is the goaltender. 1994–95 OHL Season
The 1994–95 OHL season was the 15th season of the Ontario Hockey League. The Newmarket Royals relocated, and became the Sarnia Sting. The OHL realigned from two divisions, creating the east, central, and west divisions. The Bumbacco Trophy is inaugurated to be awarded to the first place team in the west division, during the regular season. The Leyden Trophy is reallocated to the east division, and the Emms Trophy to the central division. Sixteen teams each played 66 games. The Detroit Junior Red Wings won the J. Ross Robertson Cup, defeating the Guelph Storm. Relocation Newmarket Royals to Sarnia Sting The Newmarket Royals relocated to Sarnia and were renamed the Sarnia Sting after two seasons in Newmarket. 1999–2000 OHL Season
The 1999–2000 OHL season was the 20th season of the Ontario Hockey League. The season was the first to award a point for an overtime loss. Twenty teams each played 68 games. Ottawa 67's
The Ottawa 67's are a major junior ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, that plays in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Established during Canada's Canadian Centennial, centennial year of 1967 and named in honour of this, the 67's currently play their home games at TD Place Arena. The 67's are three-time OHL champions, and have played in the Memorial Cup five times, winning in 1984 and as host team in 1999. Jeff Hunt is a Canadian businessman who is an owner of the Ottawa Redblacks football club of the Canadian Football League and the Ottawa 67's hockey club of the Ontario Hockey League. He started a carpet-cleaning firm called Canway. His firm was in the ''Profit Magazine'' 100 seven times in the 1990s. 1998–99 OHL Season
The 1998–99 OHL season was the 19th season of the Ontario Hockey League. The Brampton Battalion and the Mississauga IceDogs were added as expansion teams. The league realigned from three divisions into two conferences and four divisions. Brampton were placed in the Midwest division of the Western conference, and Mississauga were placed in the Central division of the Eastern conference. The OHL inaugurated four new trophies this season. The Holody Trophy was created for the regular season champion of the Midwest division. Two conference playoffs champions were created; the Bobby Orr Trophy for the Eastern conference, and the Wayne Gretzky Trophy for the Western conference. London Knights
The London Knights are a junior ice hockey team from London, Ontario, Canada, playing in the Ontario Hockey League, one of the leagues of the Canadian Hockey League. The Knights started out in 1965 as the London Nationals but changed to their current name in 1968. The Knights have won two Memorial Cup championships. Paul McIntosh
Paul Hugh McIntosh (born March 13, 1953) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 48 games for the Buffalo Sabres between 1974 and 1976. After his retirement he coached the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League in the early 1980s, and also served as the team's General Manager for much of the 1990s. The 1997–98 OHL season was the 18th season of the Ontario Hockey League. The Toronto St. Michael's Majors name was reactivated when they are awarded a franchise, to play in the east division. Peterborough Petes
The Peterborough Petes are a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League. The team has played at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, since 1956, and is the oldest continuously operating team in the league. Ed Rowe
Edward James 'Eddie' Rowe was a Canadian ice hockey center who was a two-time All-American for Clarkson and led the team in scoring during its undefeated season in 1955–56. Career Rowe was a star player for his junior team in Cornwall, helping the team win both the city and regional championship in 1953 while collecting both the scoring title and MVP trophy. After the season he began attending Clarkson College of Technology in nearby Potsdam, New York and spent a year on the freshman team. He joined the varsity squad in his second year and instantly provided a scoring punch, leading the team with 29 goals just 21 games. In his junior season Rowe became the focal point of the offense and the team ran roughshod over their opponents. Rowe finished with 65 points in 23 games to lead the NCAA in scoring but it was Clarkson's 23–0 record that was really astounding. The 1996–97 OHL season was the 17th season of the Ontario Hockey League. The Niagara Falls Thunder move to Erie becoming the Erie Otters. Seventeen teams each played 66 games.
