OCEAN (Bitcoin Mining Pool)
OCEAN is a Bitcoin mining pool released in November 2023 with the stated goal of decentralizing Bitcoin mining by giving miners the ability to select or construct their own block templates, reducing reliance on centralized pool operators. It was co-founded by former Bitcoin-Core developer Luke Dashjr and financially backed by Jack Dorsey, who led the seed investment round. Mission and structure OCEAN describes itself as a " permissionless," "non-custodial," "radically transparent" mining pool since it is open-source and allows direct payouts to miners based on hash rate without requiring a central pool operator. The pool is also non-KYC, meaning that miners do not have to divulge personal information to participate. The company launched publicly at the Future of Bitcoin Mining Conference held in South Carolina in November 2023. In May 2024, OCEAN established its global headquarters in San Salvador, El Salvador, citing alignment with the country's supportive stance on Bitco ...

Mining Pool
In the context of cryptocurrency mining, a mining pool is the pooling of resources by miners, who share their processing power over a network, to split the reward equally, according to the amount of work they contributed to the probability of finding a block. A "share" is awarded to members of the mining pool who present a valid partial proof-of-work. Mining in pools began when the difficulty for mining increased to the point where it could take centuries for slower miners to generate a block. The solution to this problem was for miners to pool their resources so they could generate blocks more quickly and therefore receive a portion of the block reward on a consistent basis, rather than randomly once every few years. History * November 2010: Slush launched in 2010 and is the first mining pool. * 2011–2013: The era of deepbit, which at its peak held up to 45% of the network hashrate. * 2013–2014: Since the introduction of ASIC, and when deepbit failed to support the new ...

Hashrate
The proof-of-work distributed computing schemes, including Bitcoin, frequently use cryptographic hashes as a proof-of-work algorithm. Hashrate is a measure of the total computational power of all participating nodes expressed in units of hash calculations per second. The hash/second units are small, so usually multiples are used, for large networks the preferred unit is terahash (1 trillion hashes), for example, in 2023 the Bitcoin hashrate was about 300,000,000 terahashes per second (that is 300 exahashes or 3 \cdot ^ hash calculations every second). Impact on network security A higher hashrate signifies a stronger and more secure blockchain network. Increased computational power dedicated to mining operations acts as a defense mechanism, making it more challenging for malicious entities to disrupt network operations. It serves as a barrier against potential attacks, particularly the significant concern of a 51% attack. Mining difficulty Mining difficulty, intrinsically con ...

Central Authority
A Central Authority is an agency or organization that is designated to play a key facilitating role in the implementation and operation of an international treaty in public and private international law. Prior to the Hague Evidence Convention and the Hague Service Convention The Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters, more commonly called the Hague Service Convention, is a multilateral treaty that was adopted in The Hague, the Netherlands, on 15 Novem ... of 1965 and 1970, most treaties would designate separate agencies to, respectively, transmit and receive treaty petitions and applications with their corresponding agencies in foreign states. The Conventions of '65 and '70 consolidated these roles under a single ''Central Authority.'' Subsequent conventions, such as Hague Abduction Convention, continued this demand that the Central Authority in each country handle two-way communications with domestic courts, ad ...

It is mostly seen as an investment and has been described by some scholars as an economic bubble. As bitcoin is pseudonymous, Cryptocurrency and crime, its use by criminals has attracted the attention of regulators, leading to Legality of cryptocurrency by country or territory, its ban by several countries . Bitcoin works through the collaboration of computers, each of which acts as a Node (networking), node in the peer-to-peer bitcoin network. Each node maintains an independent copy of a public distributed ledger of ...

Future Of Bitcoin Mining Conference
The future is the time after the past and present. Its arrival is considered inevitable due to the existence of time and the laws of physics. Due to the apparent nature of reality and the unavoidability of the future, everything that currently exists and will exist can be categorized as either permanent, meaning that it will exist forever, or temporary, meaning that it will end. In the Occidental view, which uses a linear conception of time, the future is the portion of the projected timeline that is anticipated to occur. In special relativity, the future is considered absolute future, or the future light cone. In the philosophy of time, presentism is the belief that only the present exists and the future and the past are unreal. Religions consider the future when they address issues such as karma, life after death, and eschatologies that study what the end of time and the end of the world will be. Religious figures such as prophets and diviners have claimed to see into the f ...

Know Your Customer
Know your customer (KYC) guidelines and regulations in financial services require professionals to verify the identity, suitability, and risks involved with maintaining a business relationship with a customer. The procedures fit within the broader scope of anti-money laundering (AML) and counter terrorism financing (CTF) regulations. KYC processes are also employed by companies of all sizes for the purpose of ensuring their proposed customers, agents, consultants, or distributors are anti-bribery compliant and are actually who they claim to be. Banks, insurers, export creditors, and other financial institutions are increasingly required to make sure that customers provide detailed due-diligence information. Initially, these regulations were imposed only on the financial institutions, but now the non-financial industry, fintech, virtual assets dealers, and even non-profit organizations are included in regulations in many countries. Requirements In the United States, the Fin ...
