John O'Donohue (1 January 1956 – 4 January 2008) was an Irish poet, author, priest, and Hegelian philosopher. He was a native Irish speaker, and as an author is best known for popularising Celtic spirituality. Early life and education Eldest of four siblings, he was raised in west Ireland in the area of Connemara and County Clare, where his father Patrick O'Donohue was a stonemason, while his mother Josie O'Donohue was a housewife. O'Donohue became a novice at Maynooth, in north County Kildare, at age of 18, here he earned degrees in English, Philosophy, and Theology at St Patrick's College in County Kildare. He was ordained as Catholic priest on 6 June 1979. Anthony "Tony" Edward O'Donohue (March 22, 1933 – February 20, 2022) was a former municipal politician in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Early life Born in The Burren, County Clare, Ireland (then Irish Free State), O'Donohue graduated as a civil engineer from University College, Galway in 1954. He moved to Toronto in 1956 to pursue his profession as a municipal engineer designing urban services such as roads, water supply, sewage treatment, storm water run-off and waste management. Inspired by Prime Minister Lester B. Michael O'Donohue (1835 – December 19, 1912) was an Irish-American builder and architect from Hartford, Connecticut who designed a number of ecclesiastical buildings in New England for both Roman Catholic and Jewish clients. Early life and career O'Donohue was born in 1835 Ireland and immigrated to America in 1872. Little is known of his life before his relocated to Hartford. Architectural practice In 1890 he moved to Hartford, Connecticut where he established an architectural practice under his own name. He carried on an active business as a designer of Catholic churches in the Gothic Revival style. O'Donohue is one of the few architects of Catholic churches to have also built for non-Catholic clients as well. He died at his home in Hartford on December 19, 1912. Peter O'Donohue
Peter O'Donohue (14 June 1923 – 4 November 2012) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Hawthorn in the VFL during the 1940s. O'Donohue usually played in defence or in the centre and played 109 games with Hawthorn. He was made captain during the 1950 season and kept that position until the end of 1952. His time at Hawthorn was interrupted by his service in the Royal Australian Navy during World War II. In 1953 he went to Western Australia, where he became captain coach of West Perth for two seasons. O'Donohue's job with the CSIRO led him to accept an appointment to coach Deniliquin in the Murray Football League. He led Deniliquin to the 1957 premiership playing as a half back flanker. He returned to Hawthorn in 1966 as coach, but it was his only season in charge. Peter went on to be a highly successful amateur coach in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), earning life membership of the VAFA in 2002.
