O. V. Vijayan Sahitya Puraskaram
The O. V. Vijayan Sahitya Puraskaram or O. V. Vijayan Literary Award is instituted by the Naveena Samskarika Kala Kendram, Hyderabad, in memory of Malayalam novelist and cartoonist O. V. Vijayan who had spent his last days in Secunderabad. The award consists of a cash component of 50,001, a memento by Kanayi Kunhiraman, and a citation. The award is given to the best book in Malayalam language during the year. Malayalam Literature
Malayalam, the lingua franca of the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puduchery, is one of the six Classical languages of India. Malayalam literature comprises those literary texts written in Malayalam, a South-Dravidian language spoken in the Indian state of Kerala. The first travelogue in any Indian language is the Malayalam ''Varthamanappusthakam'', written by Paremmakkal Thoma Kathanar in 1785. Malayalam literature has been presented with 6 Jnanapith awards, the second-most for any Dravidian language and the third-highest for any Indian language. The Sangam literature can be considered as the ancient predecessor of Malayalam. The origin of Malayalam calendar dates back to year 825 CE. Lopamudra R ( ml, ലോപമുദ്ര ആർ; born 26 April 1978) is an Indian poet and translator writing in Malayalam language with the pen name Lopa. Her works include ''Parasparam'', ''Vykkol Pava'', which have won literary awards. She began writing poems at the age of 15 and became well known among literary circles at the age of 20. Life Born in Ayaparampu Panchayat in Haripad, Alleppey on 26 April 1978, she is the daughter of Muralidharan and Renuka. Chandrika Balan (born 17 January 1954) is an Indian writer who has published books in English and Malayalam, under the pen name Chandramathi, ചന്ദ്രമതി in Malayalam. She is a writer of fiction, a translator, and critic in English and Malayalam. Chandramathi has published four books in English and 20 in Malayalam, including 12 collections of short stories, an anthology of medieval Malayalam poetry, two collections of essays, two memoirs, and five books translated from English. The Malayalam film ''Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela'' was based on her book. Biography Chandramathi was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Vijayalakshmi (born 2 August 1960) is a Malayalam–language poet from the south Indian state of Kerala. Life Vijayalakshmi was born on 2 August 1960 in Mulanthuruthy village in Ernakulam district as the daughter of Kuzhikkattil Raman Velayudhan and Kamalakshi. She completed her education from Chottanikkara Government High School, St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam and Maharajas College. She completed her graduation in Biology and obtained her masters in Malayalam literature with a first rank from Kerala University. She is married to Balachandran Chullikkadu, a known Malayalam poet.
