Nélio (footballer, Born 1971)
Nélio da Silva Melo (born 26 January 1971) better known as Nélio is a Brazilian footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Nélio scored three times for Haladás during the 2000–01 Hungarian National Championship I. He then returned to Brazil to play for Botafogo (SP) in August 2001. He signed for Botafogo (PB) in December 2001. He played in the 2002 Copa do Brasil and the 2002 Campeonato do Nordeste, scoring in the latter competition. He recovered from an injury in April. Nélio played twice for Haladás during the 2003–04 Hungarian National Championship I. Personal life Nélio's brothers Nildeson and Gilberto were also footballers, and represented El Salvador and Brazil respectively. The Copa do Brasil ( en, Brazil Cup) is a knockout football competition played by 92 teams, representing all 26 Brazilian states plus the Federal District. The Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior (or ''São Paulo Youth Football Cup'', in English), also known as Copa São Paulo de Juniores (''São Paulo Youth Cup'') and Copinha (''Little Cup''), is a cup competition played by Brazilian under-20 association football teams (until the 2006 edition, it was contested by under-21 teams), most of them from São Paulo state. Gilberto da Silva Melo (born 25 April 1976), more commonly known as Gilberto, is a Brazilian former professional footballer. He played at left-back for the majority of his career. Gilberto's brothers Nenei and Nélio are also former footballers. Club career Born in Rio de Janeiro, Gilberto started his career in his native Brazil, playing for América-RJ, Flamengo and Cruzeiro. He moved for one season to Italian club Internazionale. However, he soon left for Vasco da Gama. He also played with Grêmio and São Caetano. Nildeson "Nenei" da Silva Melo (born 29 October 1968 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a retired Brazilian and naturalized Salvadoran football player, who played as a striker. Club career He arrived in El Salvador in 1989 to play for Luis Ángel Firpo after a couple of seasons at home with Grêmio. He had a season at Atlético Marte in between two seasons with Firpo and he would go to Costa Rica to play for CS Herediano scored 21 goals in 1992. Mexico His success caught the attention of Mexican club Toluca of the Mexican Primera División that year. He would end up playing for various clubs in Mexico.
