Néctar (album)
''Nectar'', also written as ''Néctar'', released on June 15, 1999, is the eleventh album of ''rock en español'' group Enanitos Verdes. It was produced by Coti Sorokin, and was recorded and mixed entirely in Buenos Aires between the months of January and March 1999. It received a nomination for Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album, Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards, becoming the group's second and last nomination at the ceremony. The album, which includes ten songs, is a blend of different musical styles such as Rock music, rock and ballads, as well as regional rhythms. Enanitos Verdes
Enanitos Verdes (literal translation: "Little green dwarves", roughly equivalent to the English phrase "Little green men") is a rock trio from Argentina, formed in 1979 in the city of Mendoza. History The band started in 1979, with Marciano Cantero (bass guitar, keyboards and vocals), Felipe Staiti (guitar) and Daniel Piccolo drums. That same year, they performed throughout the Cuyo region. Later they traveled to Buenos Aires to record a demo, with unusable results that were never released. In spite of this failure, they continued doing shows in Mendoza and in Buenos Aires. In 1984 the band added two new members: Sergio Embrioni (guitar and vocals) and Tito Dávila (keyboard). As a quintet they published the disc ''Los Enanitos Verdes'', with the hit "Aún sigo cantando" ("I'm still singing"). Embrioni left the band in 1985. Rock en español () is a term used widely in the English-speaking world to refer to any kind of rock music featuring Spanish vocals. Compared to English-speaking bands, very few acts reached worldwide success or between Spanish-speaking countries due to a lack of promotion. Tracción Acústica is the tenth album of Enanitos Verdes released on January 27, 1998. Tracción Acústica is a compilation of their greatest hit songs recorded live in high acoustic quality. It includes a tribute to the legendary Mexican rock band El Tri, performing their classic theme "Metro Balderas". The album also contains two unreleased tracks: "El Guerrero" and "Fiesta Jurásica". It received a nomination for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, becoming the group's first nomination at the ceremony. The album was recorded live on October 28 and 29, 1997, in Mexico City. It was their first album with their new record label: PolyGram. Ballad
A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative set to music. Ballads derive from the medieval French ''chanson balladée'' or ''ballade'', which were originally "dance songs".
