''Nånting levande åt Lame-Kal'' (Something living for Lame Kal) is a 1988 Swedish television film directed by Magnus Nanne and based on the short story of the same name by Astrid Lindgren. Plot Kal is ill, as a small child he had polio. Since then, he is paralysed and spends most of his time in bed. His mother is poor and has to work a lot. Therefore, she does not have much time for Kal, who often is alone. Kal's dearest Christmas wish is to get an animal. But every Christmas, he doesn't get any animal and is disappointed. His friends Annastina and Lillstumpan want this Christmas to be different. The cat Snurran is going to have babies soon and one of them should be a present for Kal. Waldemar Bergendahl (18 April 1933 – 21 March 2022) was a Swedish film director, film editor, film producer, cinematographer and screenwriter. Bergendahl is best known as the producer behind the films based on novels by Astrid Lindgren. Life and career Bergendahl was born in April 1933 in Årsunda. He grew up on a farm between Årsunda and Hammarby, Gävleborg, Gästrike-Hammarby. His parents were farmers with cows, horses, chickens, pigs and many other animals. Bergendahl later went to University in Gävle. Then he moved to Stockholm. In 1957 Bergendahl lived along with the production manager of Europafilm in an apartment in Stockholm. The production manager told Bergendahl to apply for a job at the film company.
