Bandama River
The Bandama River is the longest river in Ivory Coast with a length of some 800 kilometers. The south-flowing river is fed by the Marahoué, Solomougou, Kan and Nzi rivers and empties into the Tagba Lagoon and the Gulf of Guinea. The Bandama flows through Lake Kossou, a large artificial lake created in 1973 by the construction of the Kossou Dam at Kossou. Dimbokro
Dimbokro is a town in south-central Ivory Coast. It is the seat of both Lacs District and N'Zi Region. It is also the seat of and a sub-prefecture of Dimbokro Department. Dimbokro is also a commune. The town is located along the river N'Zi, approximately 50 km southeast of the official capital of Ivory Coast, Yamoussoukro. Dimbokro is connected by both road and railway from the country's commercial capital and ''de facto'' political capital Abidjan on the coast. Except for a textile factory, the town is of limited size and economic importance. Dimbokro is otherwise known as the birthplace of the country's current president, Alassane Ouattara and African reggae superstar Alpha Blondy. Nzi River Bridge Collapse
On 6 September 2016, the railway bridge over the Nzi River collapsed, cutting the rail link between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso. Partial services on the line resumed on 10 September, with repairs estimated to take about two weeks. It carries the single-track railway between Abidjan and Ouagadougou and also a foot bridge, and consists of a single span crossing the river flanked by smaller spans crossing the floodplain.
