Nyvky
Nyvky () is a neighbourhood in Kyiv, Ukraine. It belongs to Shevchenkivskyi District of Kyiv. It is surrounded by Svyatoshyn (Sviatoshynskyi District) to the west, Shuliavka to the south-east, Vidradnyi (Solomianskyi District) to the south, Syrets to the east, Vynohradar, and Berkivtsi. The name of neighborhood ''Nyvky'' has nothing to do with the river Nyvka which flows in other parts of Kyiv. The Nyvky neighborhood is located to the east from Svyatoshyn, at the same time Nyvka River flows to the west from Svyatoshyn along Borshchahivka settlements chain. The name of the neighborhood has derived rather from a grainfield that was located along the Brest-Litovsky highway (today prospekt Peremohy). In 1850s here was located a khutir Fuzykivka that was established by Fuzyk family from village of Bilychi (today a neighborhood of Kyiv). Nyvky (Kyiv Metro)
Nyvky ( uk, Нивки, ) is a station on Kyiv Metro's Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line. The station was opened on 5 November 1971, and is named after Kyiv's Nyvky neighbourhood. It was designed by Boris Pryimak, I.L. Maslenkov, V.C. Bohdanovskyi, and T.A. Tselikovska. The station is shallow underground, along with the Beresteiska (Kyiv Metro), Beresteiska and the Sviatoshyn (Kyiv Metro), Sviatoshyn stations, which are the first stations of the Kyiv Metro system that are not lain deep underground. The station consists of a central hall with rows of circular columns near the platforms. The columns are covered with glazed blue-coloured tiles. On the tiled walls along the tracks is a strip of plant motifs. The entrance to the station is located on the corner of the Peremohy Prospekt (''Victory Avenue'') and the Scherbakova Street. Shevchenkivskyi District, Kyiv
The Shevchenkivskyi District (, uk, Шевченківський район, lit=Shevchenkivskyi district, translit=Shevchenkivsʹkyi raion) is an urban district of the city of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It was originally established on 4 April 1937, although in 2001 its area was increased following an annexation of the former Radianskyi and StaroKyivskyi districts. The district is historically significant, as it was here on the Old Kyiv mount where the apostle Saint Andrew erected the cross, also the famous Golden Gate of Kyiv, the main entrance to the medieval city of Kyiv is located in the district, as are the three major churches of the city: Saint Sophia, Saint Michael and Saint Andrew. Furthermore, in this district the first parliament of Ukraine met at the Ukrainian Club Building and declared Independence in 1917. Sviatoshyn Airfield
Sviatoshyn Airfield (Ukrainian Аеродром «Святошин»), formerly known as ''Svyatoshino'', is an industrial airfield in Kyiv, Ukraine, located 11 km northwest of city center. It is part of the Antonov Serial Production Plant, surrounded by the districts of Sviatoshyn, Nyvky, and Bilychi. Sviatoshyn Airfield sometimes hosts Kyiv's aviation events such as shows or festivals, but otherwise remains inaccessible to the public. The city's main aviation museum is located near the Zhuliany Airport. As of 14 March 14 2022, the airport began taking heavy bombardment from invading Russian forces trying to advance further to the Ukrainian capital during the Battle of Kyiv, receiving severe damage. Volost ( rus, во́лость, p=ˈvoləsʲtʲ; ) was a traditional administrative subdivision in Eastern Europe. In earlier East Slavic history, ''volost'' was a name for the territory ruled by the knyaz, a principality; either as an absolute ruler or with varying degree of autonomy from the ''Velikiy Knyaz'' (Grand Prince).
