Nyhellervatnet is a lake on the border of the municipalities of Hol (in Viken county) and Aurland (in Vestland county), Norway. The lake sits at an elevation of above sea level. The lake is located about southeast of the village of Aurlandsvangen (in Vestland), at the end of the Aurlandsdalen valley. In neighboring Viken county, the lake Djupsvatnet lies to the east and Hallingskarvet National Park lies to the south. Aurland
Aurland () is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located on the south side of the Sognefjorden in the traditional district of Sogn. The administrative center is the village of Aurlandsvangen. Other villages include Bakka, Flåm, Undredal, and Gudvangen. The municipality is the 60th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Aurland is the 293rd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,766. The municipality's population density is and its population has increased by 3.2% over the previous 10-year period. In 2016, the chief of police for Vestlandet formally suggested a reconfiguration of police districts and stations. He proposed that the police station in Aurland be closed. Viken (county)
Viken is a county under disestablishment in Eastern Norway that was established on 1 January 2020 by the merger of Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold with the addition of three other municipalities. Viken was controversial from the onset, with an approval rating of about 20% in the region, and the merger was resisted by all the three counties. Viken has been compared to gerrymandering. The county executive of Viken determined in 2019, before the merger had taken effect, that the county's disestablishment is its main political goal, and the formal process to dissolve Viken was initiated by the county executive in right after the 2021 Norwegian parliamentary election in which parties seeking to reverse the merger won a majority. Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. The county is one of two counties in Norway that have Nynorsk as their official written language form (the others are neutral as to which form people use). Aurlandsvangen
Aurlandsvangen () is the administrative center of Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the east side of the Aurlandsfjorden (a branch of the main Sognefjorden) where the Aurlandselvi river flows into the fjord. The village of Undredal and the famous Nærøyfjord are located just a few kilometres to the northwest. Aurlandsvangen is located on the European route E16 highway about northeast of the village of Flåm and southwest of the village of Lærdalsøyri (through the Lærdal Tunnel). Djupsvatnet
Stolsvatnet is a regulated lake in the municipalities of Ål and Hol in Viken county, Norway. Stolsvatnet was formed in the late 1940s by the damming of the upper parts of three rivers, (Stolsvatn, Olsendvatn, Holselva) which created a continuous lake across the watersheds. The new lake covered a number of existing smaller lakes. It is a reservoir for Hol I kraftverk, a hydroelectric power plant located off FV 50 by Hovet in Hol. Hallingskarvet National Park
Hallingskarvet National Park ( no, Hallingskarvet nasjonalpark) is a national park in central Norway that was established by the government on 22 December 2006. The park is located in the municipalities of Hol (Viken county), Ulvik and Aurland (both in Vestland county). More precisely, the park comprises the Hallingskarv plateau and the high mountain areas to the west of it. It includes the Vargebreen glacier as well as the valleys of Såtedalen, Lengjedalen, Ynglesdalen, and parts of Raggsteindalen. The national park covers of the Hallingskarvet mountain range and hosts large stocks of wild reindeer, an important factor in the establishment of the park.
