Nyandarua
Nyandarua County is a County in the former Central Province of Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Ol Kalou. Formerly the capital was Nyahururu, which is now part of the Laikipia County. Nyandarua County has population of 596,268 and an area of 3,304 km2. The county is located on the northwestern part of the old Central Province, and contains the Aberdare Ranges. The county was split into two in 2007: Nyandarua North District and Nyandarua South District. However, with the promulgation in 2010 of new constitution, these have been re-organised as sub counties of Nyandarua County . Daniel Waithaka was elected the first governor of the County 2013 General Election and Francis Kimemia seconds him in August 2017 elections. In the 2022 general elections, Moses Ndirangu Badilisha won the sit, becoming the third Governor of Nyandarua County. Francis Kimemia
Francis Thuita Kimemia (born 27 October 1957) is a Kenyan politician and the former governor for Nyandarua county August 2017 - August 2022. Education Kimemia was born in Gituamba Village, Githerioni, Lari Constituency, Kiambu County, Kenya to Joseph Kimemia Migwi and Maria Nunga Kimemia. He attended HGM Uplands Primary School, Nyandarua High School, and Kagumo High School. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Nairobi, a BA in Public Administration from Moi University, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Eastern Southern African Management Institute. Career He ran for governor of Nyandarua and served as secretary to the Cabinet of Kenya. He served the Ministry of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security of Kenya in various roles from 1 January 2002 to 1 January 2012. Central Province (Kenya)
The Central Province ( sw, Kati, ) was a region in central Kenya until 2013, when Kenya's provinces were replaced by a system of counties. It covered an area of and was located to the north of Nairobi and west of Mount Kenya (''see maps''). The province had 4,383,743 inhabitants according to the 2009 census. The provincial headquarters was Nyeri. Central Province was the ancestral home of the Gikuyu people. Climate The climate of Central Province is generally cooler than that of the rest of Kenya, due to the region's higher altitude. Rainfall is fairly reliable, falling in two seasons, one from early March to May (the long rains) and a second during October and November (the short rains). Aberdare Range
The Aberdare Range (formerly the Sattima Range, Kikuyu: ''Nyandarua'') is a 160 km (100 mile) long mountain range of upland, north of Kenya's capital Nairobi with an average elevation of . It straddles across the counties of Nyandarua, Nyeri, Muranga, Kiambu and Laikipia. The mountain range is located in west central Kenya, northeast of Naivasha and Gilgil and lies just south of the Equator. The mountain range is called Nyandarua among the Agikuyu people in whose territory this forest and mountain range is located. The name Nyandarua comes from the Kikuyu word rwandarua meaning a drying hide, due to the distinctive fold of its silhouette. Topology The Aberdare Range forms a section of the eastern rim of the Great Rift Valley running roughly north to south. Daniel Waithaka
Daniel Waithaka Mwangi served as thprevious governor of Nyandarua Countyin central Kenya from 2013 to 2017. He was chosen during the 4 March 2013 general elections in Kenya. Personal life Daniel Waithaka owns Elite School in Nyahururu and he a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi as well as CPS and CPA certificates. Accountancy Mr. Waithaka Mwangi joined the Ministry of Co-operative Development in 1972 as a lecturer at the Co-operative College, Karen after earning his degree from the University of Nairobi. Later, he became an auditor working in both Nairobi and Nakuru for the Bell House Mwangi group of auditors. Nyahururu
Nyahururu (formerly known as Thomson's Falls) is a town in Kenya, lying north east of Nakuru. The town derives its name from the Maasai people, Maasai word e-naiwurruwurr, meaning waterfall and/or windy or place of storms. It is located in Laikipia County. Despite this, Nyahururu formerly functioned as the administrative capital of Nyandarua County, before it became a county, until the headquarters was shifted to Ol Kalou. There have been calls for a reversal. The town has an urban population of 36,450. The town still continues to be a central economic power of the immediate former district of Nyandarua. Laikipia County is one of the 47 Counties of Kenya, located on the Equator in the former Rift Valley Province of the Country. Laikipia is a cosmopolitan County and is Listed as County number 31.
