Nuss Lake
Nuss Lake is a small private lake in Klamath Falls, Oregon, United States. It is in size, located approximately from Altamont. The lake sits between the south skirt of Stukel Mountain and Olene Gap to the north. Hydrology The Klamath area has a peculiar natural draining system. The larger portion of this area, including Poe, Langell and Yonna valleys, is drained by the Lost River and its tributaries, which flow into several small lakes before emptying into Tule Lake. Klamath Falls
Klamath Falls ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Klamath County, Oregon, United States. The city was originally called ''Linkville'' when George Nurse founded the town in 1867. It was named after the Link River, on whose falls the city was sited. The name was changed to Klamath Falls in 1893. The population was 21,813 at the 2020 census. The city is on the southeastern shore of the Upper Klamath Lake located about northwest of Reno, Nevada, and approximately north of the California–Oregon border. Lake Ewauna
Lake Ewauna is a reservoir in Klamath Falls, Oregon. It is the headwaters of the Klamath River, fed by the Link River from Upper Klamath Lake. Its constant level throughout the year is controlled by the release of water from Keno Dam, south of the Link River's mouth on the reservoir. Dam and reservoir are elements of the Klamath River Hydroelectric Project. Lake Ewauna is an ideal length for crew rowing, and the Ewauna Rowing Club has used the lake for practice and competition since 1970. Lumber industry Lake Ewauna was home to several lumber mills in the 20th century, and was a log pond for those mills. The last floating logs came out in the 1990s as the last mill on the lake shore, Modoc Lumber Company, closed its doors. The former Modoc mill site is now being developed as Timbermill Shores. Olene, Oregon
Olene is an unincorporated community in Klamath County, Oregon, United States. It is southeast of Klamath Falls on Oregon Route 140. Olene currently has a general store and at one time it had a school. In 1940 Olene had a population of 62 and was considered a suburb of Klamath Falls. Olene was the center of a prosperous dairy and potato farming district. According to William Gladstone Steel, ''Olene'' is a Klamath word meaning "eddy place" or "place of drift." O. C. Applegate adopted the word for the site in 1884 when the post office was established. The original Olene post office was up the Lost River from the current townsite. When the post office closed in 1966, it was near The Gap, a restriction in the Lost River. This gap is also known as Olene Gap, and the Olene Hot Springs are nearby. Tulelake ( ) is a city in northeastern Siskiyou County, California, United States. The town is named after nearby Tule Lake. Its population is 902 as of the 2020 census, down from 1,010 from the 2010 census. Malin, Oregon
Malin is a city in Klamath County, Oregon, United States. The population was 805 at the 2010 census. History According to Lewis A. McArthur, Malin was settled September 30, 1909, on land that was formerly at the bottom of Tule Lake by 65 Bohemian families who named the new town for the Czech town Malin, now part of Kutná Hora. The settlers had found a large horseradish, and Malin is famous for that plant. McArthur also alludes to the discovery of fossils near Malin in 1925. Merrill is a city in Klamath County, Oregon, United States. The population was 844 at the 2010 census. Merrill is an agricultural area and is home to an annual Potato Festival.
