The Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare (literally "New Company of Folk Song"), also known by the acronym NCCP, is an Italian folk group, founded in Naples in 1969. History The musical project was founded by musicians Eugenio Bennato, Carlo D’Angiò and Giovanni Mauriello with the aim of research and spread ancient traditional music from Campania and more generally from South Italy. Thanks to the encounter with the ethnomusicologist Roberto De Simone, the group eventually focused their research on Neapolitan vocal genres from the 15th and 16th centuries such as tammuriate, fronne and serenate.Alessia Pistolini. The Sanremo Music Festival 1992 was the 42nd annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia between 26 and 29 February 1992 and broadcast by Rai 1. The Sanremo Music Festival 1998 ( it, Festival di Sanremo 1998), officially the 48th Italian Song Festival (), was the 48th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia, in the late February 1998 and broadcast by Rai 1. The show was presented by Raimondo Vianello, supported by Eva Herzigová and Veronica Pivetti. According to the rules of this edition, the winner and the two runner-up of the "Newcomers" section were allowed in the final night to compete in the Big Artists section; Annalisa Minetti was eventually able to win both the competitions with the song "Senza te o con te". Piccola Orchestra Avion Travel won the Mia Martini Critics Award with the song "Dormi e sogna", while the duo Eramo & Passavanti won the Critics Award for the Newcomers section. 99 Posse
99 Posse is an Italian hip hop/reggae group from Naples. It raps both in Italian and in the local Neapolitan language. Most of 99 Posse's songs deal with political or social issues, and the group members are considered left-wing hardliners. As a showing of their activism, all of the group's albums have been released with a ''prezzo politico'' ("political price"): each CD displays a sticker saying "Don't pay more than...". For ''99 Posse'', this means "putting into practice a specific understanding about their relationship with the market, a sort of ideal practice." The group has gained popularity in Italy through its songs and its voicing of progressive political causes. Its first album, ''Curre Curre Guagliò'' (1993), was mainly influenced by reggae and world music. Angelo Branduardi
Angelo Branduardi (born 12 February 1950) is an Italian folk/folk rock singer-songwriter and composer who scored relative success in Italy and European countries such as France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Greece. Biography Branduardi was born in Cuggiono, a small town in the province of Milan, but early moved with the family to Genoa. He was educated as a classical violinist in the Genoa music conservatory, Niccolò Paganini. At the age of 18, he composed the music for the ''Confessioni di un malandrino'' (''Hooligan's Confession'') by Sergei Yesenin. He is married to Luisa Zappa, who wrote the lyrics for many of his songs. They have two daughters, Sarah and Maddalena, both musicians. Eugenio Bennato
Eugenio Bennato (born 16 March 1948) is an Italian folk musician and songwriter. He is the brother of the musician Edoardo Bennato. Biography In 1969, he cofounded the folk band ''Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare'', discovered by the author Eduardo De Filippo, who admitted them in his theater. After four studio records, he left and cofounded ''Musicanova'' in 1976. The band wrote the film soundtrack of ''L'eredità della priora'', television film directed by Anton Giulio Majano. In the early 80's he started a solo career. In 1989, he won a Nastro d'Argento for Best Score, with the movie ''Cavalli si nasce'', directed by Sergio Staino. In 1990, he participated at the Sanremo Music Festival with Tony Esposito, playing a song called ''Novecento aufwiedersehen''. Spoleto (, also , , ; la, Spoletum) is an ancient city in the Italian province of Perugia in east-central Umbria on a foothill of the Apennines. It is S. of Trevi, N. of Terni, SE of Perugia; SE of Florence; and N of Rome. Festival Of Two Worlds
The ''Festival dei Due Mondi'' (Festival of the Two Worlds) is an annual summer music and opera festival held each June to early July in Spoleto, Italy, since its founding by composer Gian Carlo Menotti in 1958. It features a vast array of concerts, opera, dance, drama, visual arts and roundtable discussions on science. The "Two Worlds" in the name of the festival comes from Gian Carlo Menotti's intention to have the worlds of American and European culture facing each other in his event; this concept would then be strengthened by the fact that it was held in conjunction with its "twin", the Spoleto Festival USA held annually in May/June in Charleston, South Carolina.
