Number Six (film)
''Number Six'' (also known as ''Number 6'') is a 1962 British film directed by Robert Tronson and starring Nadja Regin, Ivan Desny and Brian Bedford. It is part of the series of Edgar Wallace Mysteries films made at Merton Park Studios. Plot Detective Superintendent Hallett of Scotland Yard is on the trail of international criminal Charles Valentine, and unconventinally puts a secret agent – "Number Six" – on the case, whose true identity he keeps a closely-guarded secret. When Valentine is attacked by a night-club waiter, young Jimmy Gale intervenes and Valentine takes him in as his assistant in a robbery, and goes ahead with his plans to rob wealthy heiress Nadia Leiven. When Hallett tells Valentine that he is being watched by Number Six, Valentine tries desperately to find out the agent's identity. Robert Tronson
Robert Tronson (18 May 1924 – 27 November 2008) was an English film and television director, born in Chilmark, Wiltshire. Educated at Churcher's College in Hampshire, followed by the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, he served with the Royal Navy from 1941. After leaving the service at the end of the Second World War he determined to become a writer, but soon joined the BBC, where he produced children's television programmes. In 1955 he joined Associated-Rediffusion, and by the end of the decade he was working on television drama serials. From the 1960s onwards he worked as a freelance director in a career spanning almost 50 years. His final television credits were for directing five episodes of ''Hetty Wainthropp Investigates'' for the BBC, between 1996 and 1998. In 1965 Tronson married Nona Richards (died 1987). Harold Goodwin (English Actor)
Harold Goodwin (22 October 1917 – 3 June 2004) was an English actor born in Wombwell, South Yorkshire, England. Acting career Goodwin trained at RADA and was a stage actor at Liverpool repertory theatre for 3 years. He appeared in numerous British films of the 1950s and 1960s, usually playing 'flat cap'-wearing working class characters from Northern England or low ranks in the military. He had significant parts in the war films '' The Dam Busters'' (playing Guy Gibson's batman, 'Crosby'), ''Bridge on the River Kwai'' and '' The Longest Day.'' He can also be seen in films such as '' The Ladykillers'', ''Sea of Sand'', '' Angels One Five'' and '' The Cruel Sea'' (in which he was the ASDIC operator). Goodwin made hundreds of appearances in British television programmes such as ''Minder'' (as ''Dunning'', episode '' Get Daley!'', 1984)'' and a notable role in '' All Creatures Great and Small''. Derrick Sherwin
Derrick George Sherwin (16 April 1936 – 17 October 2018) was an English television producer, writer, story editor and actor. After beginning his career in the theatre, Sherwin became an actor in television before moving into writing. He became the story editor on '' Doctor Who'' and, as the producer of the series in 1969, he oversaw the transition from black-and-white to colour by producing Patrick Troughton's final story and Jon Pertwee's first. He also co-produced ''Paul Temple'' for the BBC. Early life Sherwin began his career in the theatre and worked as a junior set designer, scenic artist, scene shifter, stage manager and lighting designer. Barrie Stanton Ingham (10 February 1932 – 23 January 2015) was an English actor, performing on stage and "in a handful of films." He was perhaps most widely known as "a prolific television actor". John Welsh (actor)
John Welsh (7 November 1914 – 21 April 1985) was an Irish actor. Biography Welsh was born in Wexford. After an early stage career in Dublin, he moved into British film and television in the 1950s. His roles included James Forsyte in the 1967 BBC dramatisation of John Galsworthy's ''The Forsyte Saga'' and Sir Pitt Crawley in Thackeray's Vanity Fair, as well as the waiter, Merriman in ''The Duchess of Duke Street'', Sgt. Cuff in ''The Moonstone'' and a brief scene as the barber in ''Brideshead Revisited''. He also appeared in ''Hancock's Half Hour'', '' The Brothers'', ''Prince Regent'', ''To Serve Them All My Days'', 'The Frighteners' ('Bed and Breakfast' episode, 1972), and ''The Citadel'', and played the assistant chief constable in the early series of '' Softly, Softly''.
