Numa Pompilio Llona
Numa Pompilio Llona (March 5, 1832 – April 5, 1907) was an Ecuadorian poet, journalist, educator, diplomat, and philosopher. Numa Pompilio Llona was widely read in his time, but today he is mostly forgotten. Biography His father was the Ecuadorian lawyer Dr. Manuel Leocadio de Llona y Rivera, and his mother was Mercedes Echeverri Llados from Colombia. Born in Guayaquil, Numa Pompilio Llona completed primary school in Cali, Colombia, and completed secondary school in Lima, Peru. He received a law degree at the Universidad San Marcos in Lima, Peru. Career From 1854 to 1859, Numa Pompilo Llona was the literary editor of the Peruvian newspaper '' El Comercio''. In 1882 he was appointed the rector of the University of Guayaquil, where he held the professorship of aesthetics and general literature. Gaspar Núñez De Arce
Gaspar Núñez de Arce (1834–1903) was a Spanish poet, dramatist and statesman. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature five times. Life He was born at Valladolid, where he was educated for the priesthood. He had no vocation for the ecclesiastical state, plunged into literature, and produced a play entitled ''Amor y Orgullo'' which was acted at Toledo in 1849. To the displeasure of his father, an official in the post office, the youth refused to enter the seminary, and escaped to Madrid, where he obtained employment on the staff of '' El Observador'', a Liberal newspaper. He afterwards founded '' El Bachiller Honduras'', a journal in which he advocated a policy of Liberal concentration, and he attracted sufficient notice to justify his appointment as governor of Logroño, and his nomination as deputy for Valladolid in 1865. Rodolfo Pérez Pimentel (born November 2, 1939, in Guayaquil) is an Ecuadorian lawyer, historian, and biographer. He was declared the ''lifetime chronicler of the city of Guayaquil'', and is a member of the National Academy of Ecuadorian History.
