Nuku Rebellion
The Nuku Rebellion was an anti-colonial movement that engulfed large parts of Maluku Islands and Western New Guinea between 1780 and 1810. It was initiated by the prince and later sultan of Tidore. Nuku Muhammad Amiruddin (born Soa Siu, Tidore, c. 1738 – dead Tidore, 1805), also known as Prince Nuku or Sultan Nuku. The movement united several ethnic groups of eastern Indonesia in the struggle against the Dutch and was temporarily successful, helped by an alliance with the English East India Company. After the demise of Nuku it was however defeated, and Maluku was restored under European rule. In modern time, Nuku was officially appointed a National Hero of Indonesia. His father was Sultan Jamaluddin, a ruler of the Sultanate of Tidore, who was arrested and exiled to Batavia by the Dutch colonials in 1779. Nuku Of Tidore
Nuku (born c. 1738 - died 14 November 1805) was the nineteenth Sultan of Tidore Sultanate, Tidore in Maluku Islands, reigning from 1797 to 1805. He is also known under the names Sultan Muhammad al-Mabus Amiruddin Syah, Saifuddin, Jou Barakati (Master of Fortune), and Kaicili Paparangan(Prince of Battles). He led a Nuku Rebellion, resistance against Dutch colonialism in Maluku and Western New Guinea, Papua from 1780 which was eventually successful. Being a leader with great charisma, he gathered discontents from several ethnic groups and strove to restore Maluku to its pre-colonial division into four autonomous kingdoms. Nuku used global political conflict lines by allying with the Great Britain, British against the French-affiliated Dutch and helped them conquer the Dutch stronghold in Ternate Island, Ternate in 1801. Seram Island
Seram (formerly spelled Ceram; also Seran or Serang) is the largest and main island of Maluku province of Indonesia, despite Ambon Island's historical importance. It is located just north of the smaller Ambon Island and a few other adjacent islands, such as Saparua, Haruku, Nusa Laut and the Banda Islands. Geography and geology Seram is traversed by a central mountain range, the highest point of which, Mount Binaiya, is covered with dense rain forests. Its remarkably complex geology is because of its location at the meeting of several tectonic microplates, which have been described as "one of the most tectonically complex areas on Earth". Invasion Of The Spice Islands
The invasion of the Spice Islands was a military invasion by British forces that took place between February to August 1810 on and around the Dutch owned Maluku Islands (or Moluccas) also known as the Spice Islands in the Dutch East Indies during the Napoleonic wars. By 1810 the Kingdom of Holland was a vassal of Napoleonic France and Great Britain along with the East India Company sought to control the rich Dutch spice islands in the East Indies. Two British forces were allocated; one to the island of Ambon and Ternate, then another force would capture the more heavily defended islands of Banda Neira, following which any other island that was defended. In a campaign that lasted seven months British forces took all of the islands in the region; Ambon was captured in February, Banda Neira in August and Ternate and all other islands in the region later that same month. Battle Of Gorong
The Battle of Gorong (Indonesian: ''Pertempuran Gorong''; Dutch: ''Gorong Oorlog'') or also called Battle of Gorom, is a series of 30 years war of Sultan Nuku of the Sultanate of Tidore. More than half of the Nuku war took place in East Seram. The people of East Seram are known to be the most loyal in protecting Nuku from VOC and Ternate pursuit. Causes The Dutch were quite frustrated with losing a lot of guilders, troops, and trade stability in the East during the pursuit of Nuku. For that, a larger army with a larger fleet is needed strong. So in 1789 three ships were brought from the Netherlands to Batavia to prepare an expedition to Maluku. Battle The VOC expedition was led by Admiral A.H.C. Banda Island

Western New Guinea, also known as Papua, Indonesian New Guinea, or Indonesian Papua, is the western half of the Melanesian island of New Guinea which is administered by Indonesia.
