Nueve (Spanish TV Channel)
Nueve was a private Spanish television channel owned by Mediaset España Comunicación. Their programming is aimed at more conventional women. Nueve officially began broadcasting its programming on January 21, 2013 (20 days after starting the test broadcasts). The channel uses the song "Sweet About Me" by Gabriella Cilmi for its jingle and theme. History Project TV-channel With the expansion of the number of channels in 2010, before the merger of Telecinco and Cuatro, Telecinco was considering launching a free channel dedicated to women. The channel would have been launched on September 1, 2010 as "LaNueve" (The Nine) corresponding to its logical channel number on digital terrestrial television. Its programming would have included: current affairs, entertainment, fiction series and informative spaces for women. Nueve (English: Nine) (stylized Nu9ve) is a Mexican free-to-air television network owned by TelevisaUnivision. The primary station and network namesake is Channel 9 of Mexico City (also known by its call sign XEQ-TDT), though the network has nationwide coverage on Televisa stations and some affiliates. Nueve offers a range of general entertainment programs. History The roots of Nueve go back to the foundation of Televisión Independiente de México, the first serious contender to Telesistema Mexicano. In 1973, the two companies merged to form Televisión Vía Satélite, better known as Televisa (now known as TelevisaUnivision Mexico). Channel 9, known by its brand name El Nueve (stylized as elnueve) is an Argentine free-to-air television network based in Buenos Aires with programming centred on general entertainment. History Origins and first Romay ownership After the fall of the second government of Juan Perón, the military government of Pedro Eugenio Aramburu opened three new television licenses in Buenos Aires for bidding: channels 9, 11 and 13. The winner for channel 9, which would bear the callsign LS 83 TV, was Compañía Argentina de Televisión, S.A. (CADETE), which began its broadcasts in 1960. Canal 9's stock was partially owned by foreign companies, including the United States' NBC. The 9th Company of the Régiment de marche du Tchad, part of the French 2nd Armored Division (also known as Division Leclerc) was nicknamed ''La Nueve'' (Spanish for "the nine"). The company consisted of 160 men under French command, 146 of whom were Spanish republicans including many anarchists, and French soldiers. All had fought during the liberation of French North Africa, and later participated in the Liberation of France. The 9th Company's most notable military accomplishment was its important role in the Liberation of Paris. Men of ''La'' ''Nueve'' were among the first to enter the French capital on the evening of 24 August 1944, with half-tracks bearing the names of the Spanish Civil War battles of Teruel and Guadalajara, and accompanied by engineering personnel and three tanks, Montmirail, Champaubert and Romilly, from the 501e Régiment de chars de combat.
