Nowergup railway depot is a Transperth depot in the suburb of Nowergup, Western Australia History Nowergup depot was built to service the Transperth B-series electric multiple units that were ordered to operate service on the Joondalup line, It is owned by the Public Transport Authority and leased to Downer Rail / Bombardier Transportation as part of its contract to maintain the B-series trains. The depot was completed on 17 May 2004 and officially opened on 13 June 2004 by Premier Geoff Gallop and Planning & Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan. It was built at the end of a single track extension of the Joondalup line beyond its then terminus of Clarkson. The line has since been extended to Butler with the track duplicated. Hester Avenue
Hester Avenue (previously known as Quinns Road) is an east-west distributor road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. It primarily links the coastal suburbs of the Clarkson- Butler region to the arterial highway Wanneroo Road in the east, and is the current (as of August 2017) northern terminus of the Mitchell Freeway. The road begins as a four-lane dual carriageway at Wanneroo Road, before intersecting with the Mitchell Freeway at Clarkson in the form of an elongated dogbone roundabout separated by a bridge crossing the Joondalup railway line. The road terminates at a roundabout with Marmion Avenue, where it becomes Anchorage Drive North, a local distributor road in the suburb of Mindarie. Geoff Gallop
Geoffrey Ian Gallop (born 27 September 1951) is an Australian academic and former politician who served as the 27th Premier of Western Australia from 2001 to 2006. He is currently a professor and director of the Graduate School of Government at the University of Sydney and former chairman of the Australian Republican Movement. Born in Geraldton, Western Australia, Gallop studied at the University of Western Australia, and later progressed to St John's College at the University of Oxford after winning a Rhodes Scholarship. Having joined the Labor Party in 1971, he served as a councillor for the City of Fremantle between 1983 and 1986, and was elected to the seat of Victoria Park in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly at the 1986 state election. The Joondalup line is a commuter rail service in Western Australia, linking the Perth central business district (CBD) with the Perth metropolitan region, metropolitan area's north-western suburbs. The service is operated on the Northern Suburbs Railway by Transperth Train Operations, a division of the Public Transport Authority (Western Australia), Public Transport Authority, and is part of the Transperth network. Butler Railway Station
Butler railway station (officially Butler Station) is a commuter railway station in Butler, Western Australia, a suburb of Perth. It is the terminus of the Joondalup line, which is on the Transperth commuter rail network. Planning for the Joondalup line in the Butler area began in the late 1990s. The station was built as part of a $240 million extension of the Joondalup line from Clarkson to Butler. Construction began on the station on 16 July 2012, and was completed on 16 May 2014, opening on 21 September 2014. The Joondalup line is currently being extended past Butler station to Yanchep railway station. As of November 2021, the extension is planned to open at the end of 2023. Clarkson railway station (officially Clarkson Station) is a commuter rail station in Clarkson, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is on the Joondalup line, which is part of the Transperth network. Located in the median of the Mitchell Freeway, the station consists of an island platform connected to the west by a pedestrian footbridge. Alannah Joan Geraldine Cecilia MacTiernan (born 10 January 1953) is an Australian politician. Since 1988, she has served in politics at a federal, state, and local level, including as a minister in the Western Australian state governments of Geoff Gallop, Alan Carpenter, and Mark McGowan. She is best known for her role as the minister for planning and infrastructure during the construction of the Mandurah line. Born in Melbourne, she moved to Perth to study at the University of Western Australia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and later with a law degree. She worked for the Department of Employment before practising as a lawyer between 1986 and 1992. During this time, she served on the Perth City Council as well.
