Nowa Nowa
Nowa Nowa is a small town in the Australian state of Victoria. It is in East Gippsland, near Lakes Entrance. At the 2006 census, Nowa Nowa and the surrounding areas including Toorloo Arm had a population of 194. History Nowa Nowa Post Office opened on 11 March 1893, though closed for about five years from 1895 to 1900. Nowa Nowa railway station on the former Orbost railway line opened in April 1916, with the line closing in 1987. Commercial area Nowa Nowa has been a timber town relying on local mills for income, however this is no longer the case. There is currently only one mill operating. There are two caravan parks, one general store, one hotel/motel, one healthcare clinic and art galleries. Nowa Nowa is the home of the Nowa Nowa Nudes Art Show held in November each year. Each month there is a Pony Club meet up that draws large numbers of contestants and viewers. Nowa Nowa Railway Station
Nowa Nowa railway station was a railway station on the Orbost railway line. It was opened on Monday, 10 April 1916 to serve the small town of Nowa Nowa. It closed in 1987. The station site remains just north of the realigned East Gippsland Rail Trail, which follows the route of the former rail line, with the station site itself now used as an emergency helicopter landing place. Princes Highway is a major road in Australia, extending from Sydney via Melbourne to Adelaide through the states of New South Wales, Victoria (Australia), Victoria and South Australia. East Gippsland Rail Trail
The East Gippsland Rail Trail is a rail trail located in East Gippsland in Victoria, Australia. The trail is a popular cycling route, beginning in Bairnsdale and extending to Orbost, following the route of the former Orbost railway line. The Bairnsdale-Orbost railway was opened in 1916 to serve the agricultural and timber industry, and required numerous substantial bridges because of the nature of the terrain. Due to the decline in traffic and heavy operating costs, the line was finally closed in August 1987 and the track infrastructure removed in 1994. The shared trail is also available for walkers and recreational horseriding, however motorised vehicles are prohibited. The trail is long and passes through a variety of forest and farmland landscapes with occasional views of the Gippsland Lakes. Orbost Railway Line
The Gippsland line (also known as the Orbost railway line) is a railway line serving the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland regions of Victoria, Australia. It runs east from the state capital Melbourne through the cities of Moe, Morwell, Traralgon, Sale and terminating at Bairnsdale. Prior to its dismantling in 1994, the line extended to Orbost. The dismantled section now comprises the East Gippsland Rail Trail, a shared bicycle, walking, and horseriding track. Lakes Entrance
Lakes Entrance is a seaside resort and fishing port in eastern Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately east of Melbourne, near a managed, artificial channel connecting the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Strait. At the 2016 census, Lakes Entrance had a population of 4,810. The township was originally named Cunninghame, the Post Office of that name opening on 5 February 1870. It was renamed Lakes Entrance on 1 January 1915. The electoral district of Gippsland East is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It covers most of eastern Victoria and includes the towns of Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Orbost, Omeo, Maffra and Heyfield. Gippsland East is the state's third largest electorate in area and covers 27,544 square kilometres. The National Party held the seat without interruption from 1920 to 1999.
