Cherrybrook, Nova Scotia
Cherry Brook is a predominantly African Canadian rural community located to the north of Trunk 7 between Lake Loon and Lake Major, and just a few miles east of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Cherry Brook is a rural community with a few small farms. Most of the people work at trades in the Halifax Regional Municipality communities of Dartmouth and Halifax. The Baptist Church is the glue that keeps residents together. On Trunk 7 is located the Black Cultural Centre which contains meeting rooms and facilities to meet community needs for meetings and other events. It is a showplace for historical documents and other collections that tell the story of the early development of the Prestons and the many Black families who live in Black communities throughout Nova Scotia. The Halifax Peninsula is peninsula within the urban area of the Municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lower Sackville is a community within the urban area of Halifax Regional Municipality, in Nova Scotia, Canada. History Before the European colonization in 1749, the Mi'kmaq lived in this area for thousands of years. In August 1749, Captain John Gorham, acting on orders from Governor Edward Cornwallis to establish a military fort named Fort Sackville. (The community was named after George Germain, 1st Viscount Sackville.). As the community grew, the oak trees that lined the main drive were cut down one-by-one due to poor urban planning. The Bedford Bypass, internally designated as Trunk 33, is a highway in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The Bedford Bypass is the name given to a long 4-lane highway connecting Windmill Road ( Trunk 7) in Dartmouth to Exit 1 of Highway 101 in the Lower Sackville area of the Halifax Regional Municipality. Musquodoboit Harbour is a natural harbour in Canada on the Eastern Shore (Nova Scotia), Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. Physical harbour Located east of Petpeswick Inlet and west of Jeddore Harbour, Musquodoboit Harbour is a 10 km long estuary measuring about 2 km wide at its southern end (the mouth) and narrowing to less than 100 m wide at the northern end where the Musquodoboit River discharges into the harbour. Porters Lake (2011 population: 3,202) is a rural community in the Eastern Shore region of the Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, between Trunk 7 and Route 207, 27.8 km from Halifax. Lake Echo (2021 population: 2,365) is an unincorporated suburban community located in Nova Scotia, Canada that is part of the Halifax Regional Municipality; approximately 15 kilometres east of Dartmouth.
