Nova Kakhovka Urban Hromada
Nova Kakhovka urban hromada () is a hromada of Ukraine, located in Kakhovka Raion, Kherson Oblast. Its administrative center is the city of Nova Kakhovka. The hromada contains eleven populated places: city and administrative center Nova Kakhovka, two urban-type settlements ( Dnipriany and Kozatske), three rural settlements (, Raiske, and ) and five villages (, Maslivka, , Obrivka and Pishchane). It has a total population of 64,792. History The hromada was originally established on 19 October 2018. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the hromada was invaded and occupied by Russia. After Ukraine's 2022 Kherson counteroffensive, Ukrainian forces retook all of right-bank Kherson Oblast, including two settlements of Nova Kakhovka urban hromada: Kozatske and Vesele. However, those villages were completely destroyed by war. Kherson Oblast
Kherson Oblast ( uk, Херсо́нська о́бласть, translit=Khersónsʹka óblastʹ, ), also known as Khersonshchyna ( uk, Херсо́нщина, ), is an oblast (province) in southern Ukraine, currently claimed and partly occupied by Russia. Kakhovka Raion ( uk, Каховський район) is one of the administrative raions (a ''district'') of Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine. Its administrative center is located in the city of Nova Kakhovka. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Kherson Oblast was reduced to five, and the area of Kakhovka Raion was significantly expanded. Nova Kakhovka ( uk, Нова́ Кахо́вка, ; russian: Новая Каховка) is a city in the central Kakhovka Raion region of Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine currently under Russian occupation. Nova Kakhovka is an important port city on the east bank of the Dnieper river where it meets the downstream end of the Kakhovka Reservoir. Kozatske ( uk, Козацьке; russian: Казацкое) is a rural settlement in Kakhovka Raion, Kherson Oblast, southern Ukraine. It is located on the right bank of the Dnieper, separated from Nova Kakhovka on the left bank by the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. 2022 Kherson Counteroffensive
A military counteroffensive was launched by Ukraine on 29 August 2022 to expel Russian forces occupying the southern regions of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. Destruction Of The Kakhovka Dam
The Kakhovka Dam in Ukraine was breached in the early hours of 6 June 2023, causing extensive flooding along the lower Dnieper river, also called the Dnipro, in Kherson Oblast.
