Nottingham University Conservative Association
Nottingham University Conservative Association (NUCA) is a student Conservative association, whose members are drawn from the University of Nottingham. NUCA is affiliated to the University of Nottingham Students' Union, in addition to the Nottingham Conservative Federation and East Midlands Area Council. The Honorary President is Rt. Hon. John Hayes MP PC FRSA. Past Honorary Presidents include Jonathan Guinness, Lord Carr of Hadley, R. A. Butler and His Grace the Duke of Rutland. NUCA alumni include many prominent Conservative Party figures. Among them are five current Members of Parliament. NUCA was inaugerated in 1933, making it one of the oldest union-affiliated societies on campus today, under the name 'Conservative and Unionist Association'. John Hayes (UK Politician)
Sir John Henry Hayes (born 23 June 1958) is a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. He has held five ministerial positions and six shadow ministerial positions. Hayes was appointed as a Privy Councillor in April 2013, and a Knight Bachelor in November 2018. Hayes is considered a social conservative, economic protectionist, communitarian and Eurosceptic. He strongly supported Britain's withdrawal from the EU and has spoken regularly about his belief in conservative ideas and philosophy. GB News is a British free-to-air television and radio news channel. The channel is available on Freeview, Freesat, Sky, YouView, Virgin Media and via the internet. Since 4 January 2022, an audio simulcast of the station is available on DAB+ radio. Announced in September 2020 and launched in June 2021 from studios at Paddington Basin, London (and later, also with a studio on Albert Embankment with views towards Westminster and the Houses of Parliament, used by Nigel Farage and Mark Steyn), the channel became Britain's first television news start-up for more than 30 years, since the launch of Sky News in 1989. The Education Select Committee is a select committee of the House of Commons in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The remit of the committee is to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Education and any associated public bodies. The chair of the committee is Robin Walker MP. Neil Carmichael (Conservative Politician)
William Neil Carmichael (born 15 April 1961 in Hexham) is an English politician, and former Conservative Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Stroud from 2010 until 2017. In April 2019, Carmichael announced he had left the Conservatives. He subsequently joined Change UK and was an unsuccessful candidate for the party in the East of England constituency at the 2019 European Parliament election. In September 2019, he joined the Liberal Democrats. Earlier activities in politics Carmichael began his political career after being elected to Northumberland County Council in 1989, on which he served for four years. Scott Lloyd Benton (born 1 July 1987) is the Member of Parliament for Blackpool South, holding office since the 2019 United Kingdom general election. A member of the Conservative Party, he was previously a councillor on Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council. The Economic Secretary to the Treasury is the sixth-most senior ministerial post in His Majesty's Treasury, after the First Lord of the Treasury, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, the Paymaster-General and the Financial Secretary to the Treasury. Andrew James Bridgen (born 28 October 1964) is a British politician and businessman who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for North West Leicestershire since 2010.
