Notting Gate (also known as Notting Hill) is a neighbourhood located in Cumberland Ward, in the suburb of Orleans in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located south of Innes Road, east of Portobello Boulevard, west of Trim Road, and north of Brian Coburn Boulevard (formerly Blackburn Bypass) . Cumberland Ward
Cumberland ( ) is a historic county in the far North West England. It covers part of the Lake District as well as the north Pennines and Solway Firth coast. Cumberland had an administrative function from the 12th century until 1974. From 1974 until 2023, Cumberland lay within Cumbria, a larger administrative area which also covered Westmorland and parts of Yorkshire and Lancashire. In April 2023, Cumberland will be revived as an administrative entity when Cumbria County Council is abolished and replaced by two unitary authorities; one of these is to be named Cumberland and will include most of the historic county, with the exception of Penrith and the surrounding area. Avalon, Ottawa
Avalon is a neighbourhood located in Orleans, a suburb in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Prior to amalgamation in 2001, the area was in the City of Cumberland. This neighbourhood was non-existent until the late 1990s when the urban sprawl intensified in the east end. Avalon quickly developed in the area is now bordered to the north by Innes Road, to the east by a line following (from north to south) Portobello Boulevard to Brian Coburn Boulevard to Trim Road, the west by Mer Bleue Road and to the south by Wall Road. According to the Canada 2011 Census, this area had a population of 12,455. The development of the area slowed when the developer had to return to previously built houses to fix foundations. Some have criticized the builder for building on swampland without proper engineering. Navan, Ontario
Navan is a community in Cumberland Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located southeast of the suburban community of Orleans. Before its amalgamation with the city in 2001, Navan was within the City of Cumberland. It was named after the town of Navan in Ireland. Navan is about 20 km east of the city of Ottawa and the centre of the town is Colonial Road (Ottawa Road #28) and Trim Road Navan's proximity to the suburban area of Orleans means that it is quickly becoming more suburban in nature itself. About 1,905 people live in the vicinity of Navan (Canada 2016 Census). The Navan Fair is an annual event that takes place in August. It is held in the fairground off Colonial Road. The fair features midway rides, live music, concession stands, demolition derbies, exhibitions, a parade, and various shows. The first fair took place in 1946. École secondaire catholique Béatrice-Desloges (ESCBD, Béatrice-Desloges Catholic High School) is a French language high school in the community of Orléans, in the eastern part of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school also houses a community child day care centre, and is currently the largest or second largest and most populated French high school in Ontario, either surpassing or coming very close to that of the Thériault Catholic High School located in Timmins. History The school is named after Béatrice Desloges, an early twentieth century Franco-Ontarian teacher in Ottawa who, with her sister Diane, successfully opposed Regulation 17, which aimed at rendering illegal all French language teaching in the province of Ontario. Trim Road
Trim Road ( Ottawa Road #57) is an arterial road in the eastern end of Orléans, Ontario, a suburb of Ottawa. It serves as the only road access to Petrie Island and its public beach in the Ottawa River. From Petrie Island, Trim runs south through the eastern suburban areas of Orleans and then south into rural former Cumberland Township. It travels through the communitiy of Navan before ending at Perreault Road. It has a total length of and connects with Ottawa Regional Road 174 that connects with Highway 417 further to the west. Its status as a numbered road in Ottawa's city road status ends at Innes Road on the south side of Orleans. Two OC Transpo public transit bus stations are served along Trim road, with Trim station to the north, and Millennium station to the south.
