Noticieros Televisa (branded as N+ after the Televisa-Univision merge) is the news division of Grupo Televisa, which produces national and local news for Televisa's TV channels and local stations across Mexico. It was headed by Leopoldo Gómez, the Vice President of News for Televisa since 1998 to 2021. History 1998-2016: the launch of Noticieros Televisa After Emilio Azcárraga Jean took over as President of Televisa in April 1997, one of his first moves was to rebuild and restructure the news department and give a more contemporary, stand-alone image; Leopoldo Gómez, an executive close to Azcárraga, was named Vice-President of News. Televisa Regional is a unit of Televisa, Grupo Televisa which owns and operates television stations across Mexico. The stations rebroadcast programming from its subsidiary TelevisaUnivision (United States), TelevisaUnivision's other networks, and they engage in the local production of newscasts and other programs. Televisa Regional stations all have their own distinct branding, except for those that are Nueve (Mexican TV network), Nu9ve affiliates and brand as "Nu9ve ". Televisa traditionally has had agreements with independent station owners to supply programming for local stations. Grupo Televisa is a Mexican multimedia mass media company. A major Latin American mass media corporation, it often presents itself as the largest producer of Spanish-language content. In April 2021, Televisa and Univision Communications announced that they had proposed a merger between Televisa's media and entertainment assets with Univision, which would form a new company to be known as TelevisaUnivision. XHTV-TDT (virtual channel 4), founded in 1950 by Romulo O'Farril, is a flagship TV station of Televisa and carries its Foro (TV channel), FORO news network. FOROtv is available on various cable television companies and SKY México satellite service, along with several providers in the United States as part of Televisa and Univision's partnership (albeit with local programming and sports replaced with American ads and recorded news blocks). It is the oldest TV station in Mexico and Latin America. History XHTV was Mexico's first television station and one of the building blocks of Telesistema Mexicano, which became Televisa in 1972. Nueve (English: Nine) (stylized Nu9ve) is a Mexican free-to-air television network owned by TelevisaUnivision. The primary station and network namesake is Channel 9 of Mexico City (also known by its call sign XEQ-TDT), though the network has nationwide coverage on Televisa stations and some affiliates. Nueve offers a range of general entertainment programs. Denise Maerker Salmón (born January 8, 1965 in Mexico City, Mexico) is a Mexican journalist who currently anchors the flagship ''En punto con Denise Maerker'' nightly newscast for Televisa, and has served on the company's Board of Directors since April 2022. She studied economics and social science at the University of Louvain (UCLouvain) in Belgium. She earned a master in political science, and PhD in comparative political systems at the Sorbonne in Paris. After returning to Mexico, Maerker was a research professor and director of communication at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE). She entered into the world of journalism in 1997, appearing alongside Ciro Gómez Leyva on CNI Canal 40, who is now a competitor on Imagen Televisión. Las Estrellas ("The Stars"; previously El Canal de las Estrellas, or "The Channel of the Stars") is one of the cornerstone networks of TelevisaUnivision, with affiliate stations all over Mexico, flagshipped at XEW-TDT in Mexico City. Vix (streaming Service)
ViX is an over-the-top streaming service owned and operated by TelevisaUnivision. The service primarily shows content from Televisa and other third-party content providers, including television series, movies, and sports programming. Originally launched as PrendeTV on 30 March 2021, the service was expanded and rebranded as ViX on 31 March 2022. History On January 13, 2021, Univision said that PrendeTV would be launched in the first quarter of 2021. On March 30, 2021, Univision launched their ad-supported streaming service. On May 3, 2021, Univision announced that it had acquired the television rights for Euro Cup 2020 for PrendeTV and TUDN and Univision also acquired rights for Brazilian and Argentine leagues.
