''Not Available'' is the fourth studio album by American art rock group the Residents, recorded in 1974. The album was allegedly meant to only be released once its creators completely forgot about its existence (adhering to their "Theory of Obscurity," in which an artist's purest work is created without an audience) - however, due to ongoing delays in the release of '' Eskimo'', ''Not Available'' was released to supply the demand for new Residents material, given their unexpected critical and commercial success following the release of the '' Duck Stab'' EP. History It is said that the lyrics and themes of ''Not Available'' arose from personal tensions within the group, and that the project began as a private psychodrama before being adapted into a possible operetta. The Residents
The Residents are an American art collective and art rock band best known for their avant-garde music and multimedia works. Since their first official release, ''Meet the Residents'' (1974), they have released over 60 albums, numerous music videos and short films, three CD-ROM projects, and ten DVDs. They have undertaken seven major world tours and film score, scored multiple films. Pioneers in exploring the potential of CD-ROM and similar technologies, the Residents have won several awards for their multimedia projects. They founded Ralph Records, a record label focusing on avant-garde music, in 1972. Throughout the group's existence, the individual members have ostensibly attempted to work anonymously, preferring to have attention focused on their art. MVD Entertainment Group, (previously Music Video Distributors, Inc.) is an American production company and film distributor based in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, consisting of three main departments MVD Visual, MVD Audio, and MVD Distribution. The company was founded by Tom Seaman in 1986 and today has released over 8,000 titles. Home video labels MVD Rewind Collection In 2017, the company launched a line of Blu-ray releases called the MVD Rewind Collection. The line features cult following, cult movies not previously released on Blu-ray in North America, and some that were never even released on DVD. Each release is numbered and features a slipcover that gives a throw-back look of a weathered VHS case. Renaldo And The Loaf
Renaldo and the Loaf are an English musical duo formed in 1977 consisting of David "Ted the Loaf" Janssen and Brian "Renaldo Malpractice" Poole. The two released six full-length albums, one live album, and three self-produced demos. Sound Renaldo & The Loaf attempted to replicate the sound of synthesizers using acoustic instruments. They manipulated tape loops and muffled and detuned their instruments. Title In Limbo
''Title in Limbo'' is an album by The Residents in collaboration with Renaldo and the Loaf, released in 1983 on Ralph Records. Guest performers include Snakefinger (guitar and violin), and vocalist Nessie Lessons. The album was originally recorded during four days in 1981, when Renaldo and The Loaf were on vacation in San Francisco, but they were unable to finish the album before the duo went home. In 1983, during a time of financial crisis in the Residents' quarters, the half-finished album, with its gentle, tuneful sound, seemed like a financial lifeline, so the Residents decided to put vocals on the tracks and ready the album for release. Dave "The Loaf" Janssen was unable to get time off from work and just sent some tapeloops. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. A string synthesizer or string machine is a specialized synthesizer designed specifically to make sounds similar to that of a string orchestra. Dedicated string synthesizers occupied a specific musical instrument niche between electronic organs and general-purpose synthesizers in the 1970s and early 1980s, until advances in digital signal processing technology allowed the production of inexpensive general-purpose polyphonic synthesizers and samplers, which made the existence of a separate type of instrument unnecessary.
