Nostell Miners Welfare F.C.
Nostell Miners Welfare Football Club is an English football club based in New Crofton, West Yorkshire. The club are currently members of the . History Prior to the current club, a team under the name of Nostell Colliery Football Club played in the village during the 1890s and early 1900s; the team won the Wakefield and District League during this period. The current club Nostell Miners Welfare Football Club was founded in 1928, after the purchasing of a plot of land to play on for £400, the location which they remain at today. The club won the Wakefield and District League during the 1937–1938 season. Play was halted for World War II, but when the club returned they were successful in several colliery football competitions. In the late 1950s, the club toured Belgium and won a trophy on their tour. Crofton, West Yorkshire
Crofton is a village in West Yorkshire, England, about south-east of Wakefield, some to the west of the town of Pontefract, and from the town of Featherstone. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 5,781. History Crofton is listed in the 1086 Domesday Book as Scroftune. The village has one church, the cruciform All Saints' Church, which is Anglican. It dates from the 15th century. It shares an incumbent with the Church of St Peter the Apostle at Kirkthorpe. 2008–09 FA Cup
The 2008–09 FA Cup (known as The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON for sponsorship reasons) was the 128th season of the world's oldest football knockout competition; the FA Cup. A record 762 clubs were accepted for the competition; one club, South Normanton Athletic, folded before the fixtures were released, leaving 761 clubs to appear in the draw. Two more clubs, Brierley Hill & Withymoor and Stapenhill, folded after the draws for the early rounds were made, giving their opponents a walkover. The competition started on 16 August 2008 with the Extra preliminary round and concluded on 30 May 2009 with the Final, held at Wembley Stadium. Because winners Chelsea qualified for the 2009–10 UEFA Champions League by finishing 3rd in the 2008–09 Premier League, losing finalists Everton qualified for the play-off round of the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League.
