Nosara, Costa Rica
Nosara is a district of the Nicoya canton, in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. History Nosara was created on 26 January 1988 by Acuerdo 40. Geography Despite the Nicoya peninsula being one of the last locations with large areas of unpaved roads in Costa Rica, Nosara is one of the oldest expatriate communities in the country, as well as a fishing and agricultural area. Unlike most coastal tourist towns, Nosara lacks nearly any development directly on the beach as much of it consists of the Ostional Wildlife Refuge (necessitated by the presence of breeding olive ridley and leatherback sea turtle populations). Nosara is also a surfing destination as Playa Guiones is one of the most consistent waves in the world with over 330 days per year of rideable conditions. Nosara Airport
Nosara Airport is an airport serving Nosara, a village in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. The airport is approximately 15 minutes from the beaches of Nosara, the main tourist attraction in the area. The airport is owned and administrated by the country's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC). Nosara Airport receives only domestic flights, but has daily scheduled service from the Costa Rican capital, San José. The airport is inland from the Pacific coast. The runway length includes a displaced threshold on Runway 04. There is nearby low mountainous terrain north of the airport, and also east through south. National Secondary Route 160, or just Route 160 ( es, Ruta Nacional Secundaria 160, or ) is a National Road Route of Costa Rica, located in the Guanacaste, Puntarenas provinces. The road is between Naranjo ferry terminal and Route 21 in Nicoya peninsula, and again with Route 21 at Santa Cruz, Guanacaste. Description A mostly gravel road, it approximately follows the coastline of southern section of the Nicoya Peninsula. It starts at the end of Route 21 at the Naranjo ferry terminal, and goes south to the Paquera ferry terminal, this section is paved. From there it turns west and goes near the beach and airport of Tambor and then the town of Cóbano. The northwest bound segment of the road from here to Puerto Carrillo can only be driven in the dry season, and only with off-road capable vehicles.
