Norwood High School (NHS) is a four-year public secondary school located in Norwood, Massachusetts, United States, within Norfolk County. The school is the only high school within the Norwood Public Schools district and is located at 245 Nichols Street. Demographics Athletics The Norwood Mustangs are a member of the Tri-Valley League, a league within the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. They have a traditional rivalry with Dedham High School and Walpole High School. In 2016, Norwood explored a move to the Tri-Valley League, similar to Dedham's move after the 2015–16 academic year. Norwood had the second-smallest enrollment of BSC schools during the 2015-16 year with 967, less than half of the largest schools in the conference. In October 2017, Norwood's move to the TVL became official. The 2017–2018 school year was the 60th and final season for Norwood's membership in the Bay State Conference. Norwood is a town and census-designated place in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. Norwood is part of the Greater Boston area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 31,611. The town was named after Norwood, England. Norwood is on the Neponset River, which runs all the way to Boston Harbor from Foxborough. Richard Joseph Hebner (born November 26, 1947) is an Americans, American former professional baseball player and Coach (baseball), coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a third baseman from through , most prominently as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates teams that won five National League East, National League Eastern Division titles in six years between and and, won the World Series in . The Dedham Public School System (Dedham Public Schools) is a PK– 12 graded school district in Dedham, Massachusetts. It is the oldest public school system in the United States. History On January 2, 1643, the Town Meeting set aside land for three public purposes: a school, a church, and a training field. Two years later, on January 1, 1645, by unanimous vote, the Town of Dedham authorized the first taxpayer-funded public school in the United States, "the seed of American education." Bay State Conference
The Bay State Conference, is an interscholastic high school athletic league located in the Metro Boston, Metrowest, and Southeastern Massachusetts ( South Shore) regions of the United States. The Bay State Conference is named after the nickname of Massachusetts which is the bay state. As of 2021-2022, the Bay State Conference consists of 10 member schools. All Bay State Conference member schools are public secondary schools and also members of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) in District 7 (along with the Hockomock League and the Tri-Valley League in the same regions). Walpole High School (WHS) is a four-year public high school in Walpole, Massachusetts, United States, within Norfolk County. The school educates students grades 9 through 12 and is the only high school in the Walpole Public School district. Dedham High School is a public high school in Dedham, Massachusetts, United States, and a part of the Dedham Public Schools district. The Tri-Valley League or TVL is a high school athletic league located in towns in Middlesex and Norfolk counties, Massachusetts. The league was founded in 1966 by principals and Alfred “Hap’’ Mazukina, who served as the league's commissioner for 23 years. In its infancy the TVL struggled but over the years has undergone changes and is now regarded more than 50 years later as one of the most respected high school sports leagues in Massachusetts.
