The B-class submarines were a class of six vessels of the US L class built on licence at Karljohansvern naval shipyard in Horten, Norway from 1922 to 1929 and deployed by the Royal Norwegian Navy. Karljohansvern
Karjohansvern (''Karljohansvern Orlogsstasjon, KJV'') at Horten was the main base for the Royal Norwegian Navy from 1850 to 1963. Background In 1818, it was decided to establish a naval base in Horten. It was first called ''Hortens verft'', and later ''Marinens Hovedværft'' until King Oscar I named it ''Carljohansværn værft'' in 1854 (after his father Karl Johan). The shipyards was begun in 1820 and the first launch, a frigate, was in 1828. On 9 April 1940 during the German invasion of Norway, a battle took place in the harbour when the Germans attempted to seize the base. The naval attack was repulsed, but German troops managed to outflank the Norwegians and force them to capitulate. Karljohansvern remained in German hands for the rest of World War II, while the ships operating out of it were pressed into their service. Florø
is a town and the administrative centre of the municipality of Kinn, Vestland, Norway. The town was founded by royal decree in 1860 as a ladested on the island of Florelandet, located between the Botnafjorden and Solheimsfjorden. Florø is Norway's (and thus the Scandinavian Peninsula's) westernmost town. It is the most western town on the mainland in the Nordic countries. Filtvet
Filtvet is a small village along the Oslofjord in Asker municipality, Viken county, Norway. Location Filtvet is a 45-minute journey to Oslo by car and has become a popular tourist destination during summer. Accommodation consist principally of camping sites. Filtvet lighthouse (''Filtvet fyr'') is on the west side of Oslofjord at the entrance to Oslo. The lighthouse was deserted in 1985 and a beacon placed in front of the lighthouse has since replaced the lighthouse. Filtvet Church Filtvet Church (''Filtvet kirke'') dates from 1894. The church was built of timber and has 200 seats. Both the property and timber for construction of the church were given to the local inhabitants by ship owner C. A. Jørgensen. Vesterålen is a district and archipelago in Nordland county, Norway. It is located just north of Lofoten and west of Harstad. It is the northernmost part of Nordland county. Fiskå is a village in Strand municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located along the Årdalsfjorden, about northeast of the village of Tau. The small farming village of Holta is located a short distance south of Fiskå. The lake Vostervatnet lies just up the hill to the south of the village.
