Norway In The Eurovision Song Contest 2007
Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Ven a bailar conmigo" written by Thomas G:son. The song was performed by Guri Schanke. The Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) organised the national final ''Melodi Grand Prix 2007'' in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. 18 entries competed in the national final that consisted of three semi-finals, a Last Chance round and a final. Eight entries ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 10 February 2007 where the winner was determined over two rounds of voting. In the first round of voting, a public televote exclusively selected the top four entries to advance to the competition's second round—the Gold Final. In the second round of voting, "Ven a bailar conmigo" performed by Guri Schanke was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from three regional jury groups and a public televote. Guri Schanke
Guri Annika Schanke (; born 14 December 1961) is a Norwegian actress and singer. She is known in Norway for her acting career, and was part of the 2005 round of the Norwegian version of ''Dancing with the Stars'', where she came in second. Career Her debut as an actress came in 1982 on Oslo Nye Teater. Since then she has been part of a number of successful musicals, such as ''Les Misérables'', ''Summer in Tyrol'' and '' Annie Get Your Gun''. Norway was represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 by the song "In My Dreams (Wig Wam song), In My Dreams" performed by Wig Wam. Trine Rein is an American-Norwegian singer. Her album sales have exceeded more than a million records. She was born in San Francisco in 1970, and is married to Norwegian adventurer Lars Monsen. Biography Debut Trine Rein released her first solo album in 1993, ''Finders, Keepers''. It peaked at the top of the Norwegian album chart for five weeks. But as she was almost unknown before the release, it took her 14 weeks to finally be the most popular album in Norway. Jan Eggum
Jan Eggum (born 8 December 1951) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter. He has been characterized as a "face for the melancholy", and the themes in his songs are often broken hearts, loneliness, and sorrow. Sometimes his lyrics include social criticism, but he also shows trivial and funny sides of himself. Career Eggum was born in Bergen, but started as a pub singer in London, and made his living for two years writing songs in English. One of his most famous songs – "En natt forbi" ("A night is over") – was originally written in English, with the title "Alone, Awake". He got a record contract in 1975 with the Norwegian record company CBS, and recorded his debut album "Trubadur" that autumn. His breakthrough came after his third release, the album "Heksedans" from 1977. Marika Lejon
Marika Lejon (born 3 October 1984 in Stavanger) is a Norwegian composer and singer. She grew up in Søgne, in the south of Norway, with a Norwegian father and a Czech mother. Her parents were both journalists, so she had the opportunity to travel and see the world. She was educated at University of Oslo in Media Studies, and completed a master's degree autumn 2010. Infinity is a Eurodance band from Norway that formed in the late 1990s. Its current members are Kjell Gabriel Henriksen from Asker and Birgitte Moe from Bærum. History Infinity was formed in 1995 as ''Barbie-Q'', consisting of three rappers and a singer. Birgitte Moe (born in 1975) was working as cashier for a bakery at Sandvika Storsenter and Kjell Gabriel Henriksen (born Kjell-Gabriel Eikli Hendrichs in 1974) was working in a record store in the same shopping mall. They met in the bakery and started to talk. Birgitte had already been to audition for another Norwegian band Devotion and asked Kjell if she could sing for his band. NRK P1 is a nationwide digital radio channel operated by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). It is the result of the NRK radio channel reform initiated in 1993 by radio director Tor Fuglevik. NRK P1 is the direct descendant of NRK's first radio station which began broadcasting in 1933. Synnøve Svabø (born 22 September 1968 in Sunnmøre, Norway) is a Norwegian talk show host. Svabø is best known for her 1997 boob stunt on Thorbjørn Jagland who was then the Prime Minister of Norway Jagland was caught on national television placing his hands on Synnøve Svabø’s breasts.
