Howard County is one of 92 counties in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 83,658. The county seat is Kokomo. Originally named Richardville County, it was renamed in 1844 to commemorate General Tilghman Ashurst Howard. Howard County is part of the Kokomo, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. Northwestern High School (Indiana)
Northwestern High School is a public high school located approximately 4.5 miles northwest of the city limits of Kokomo, Indiana, United States. The building houses grades 9–12 and also functions as the primary athletic building. History Northwestern High School was founded in 1948 as the result of a merge between Clay, Ervin, and Howard High Schools, during a period known as the "Consolidation Boom" when many other schools were also being consolidated. The Clay High School sign still stands outside the main entrance to the school. The school received its name because of its geographic location within Howard County, but the founders of the school also deliberately modeled the school after Northwestern University because of the university's reputation for scholastic excellence. Northwestern High School's school colors of purple and white and the school fight song "Go You Northwestern" were both directly adopted from Northwestern University. Sylvia Jane Hutton (née Kirby, born December 9, 1956), also known mononymously as Sylvia, is an American country music and country pop singer and songwriter. Her biggest hit (a crossover chart topper), was her single "Nobody" in 1982. Brandon Beachy
Brandon Alan Beachy (born September 3, 1986), is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers. Amateur career Beachy attended Northwestern High School (Indiana), Northwestern Senior High School in Kokomo, Indiana. He helped lead their baseball team to Indiana's 2004–2005 class AA state championship game. After the game, he was presented with the Indiana High School Athletic Association Mental Attitude Award. After high school, he attended Indiana Wesleyan University, where he played third base, first base, and pitched for the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. Beachy was not selected in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft following his junior year of college, but signed with the Atlanta Braves as an undrafted free agent on July 22, 2008.
