Northwest Guilford High School
Northwest Guilford High School is a public high school in Guilford County, North Carolina. It currently has an enrollment of 1,947 students in grades 9 through 12. The school was ranked by ''Newsweek''s Best High Schools in America as 261st among American high schools. The school also received an award from Siemens for its strength in Science and Math AP education, and was listed by High Schools That Work as one of the top 36 high schools in the United States. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. Scott Houston (athlete)
Scott Houston (born 11 June 1990) is an American track and field athlete who competes in the pole vault. He was the American national indoor champion in 2018. He competed collegiately for both the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Indiana Hoosiers. Houston has also coached collegiate pole vaulters. Career Born in Winter Springs, Florida, he moved with his family to Oak Ridge, North Carolina and attended nearby Northwest Guilford High School. He competed in pole vault while there and broke the state high school record and was captain of the school track and field team. Houston went on to study a sports science major at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and competed for their North Carolina Tar Heels collegiate track team. Leah Naomi Green (born June 14, 1983) is an American poet. She is the author of ''The More Extravagant Feast'', winner of the Walt Whitman award of the Academy of American Poets in 2019. She is Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Washington and Lee University. Biography Leah Naomi Green grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. International Thespian Society
The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9–12; Junior Thespian troupes serve students in grades 6 through 8. A few famous ITS alumni include Tom Hanks, Val Kilmer, James Marsters, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Stephen Schwartz. Festivals are held annually at the state and national levels. Each June the organization holds the International Thespian Festival. For 25 years it was held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Bands of America (BOA) is a music education advocacy organization and promoter of high school marching band competitions in the United States, such as the annual Grand National Championships. Established in 1975 as Marching Bands of America (MBA), founder Larry McCormick's goal was to provide educational opportunities for music students nationwide. McCormick organized the first annual Summer Workshop and Festival in 1976. Renamed Bands of America in 1984, the organization became an independent, tax-exempt entity in 1988. Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996.
