Northside with its population of 10,049 as of the 2010 United States Census is the second-most populous administrative Districts and sub-districts of the United States Virgin Islands, census subdistrict (CSD) on Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saint Thomas, only less populated than the Charlotte Amalie, U.S. Virgin Islands, Charlotte Amalie subregion with the islands’ territorial capital of more than 18,000 people. Magens Bay
Magens Bay is a bay in the Northside, Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Northside region on Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saint Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, in the Caribbean. Description Lying on the northern (Atlantic Ocean, Atlantic) side of the island, Magens Bay (Estate Zufriedenheit) features a well-protected white sand beach stretching for nearly three quarters of a mile. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island, as well as a gathering place for locals. The beach sits at the head of a deep bay, the arms of which are Peterborg peninsula to the east and Tropaco Point to the west. The bay's north-west exposure means its waters are usually calm, although storms in the North Atlantic can occasionally generate large waves in the winter months. The sandy bottom means snorkeling is of limited interest, although turtles, conch, tarpon and other fish are commonly spotted. Local fishing boats anchor in the eastern part of the bay. Hans Lollik Island
The Hans Lollik Islands are two privately-owned islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Great Hans Lollik Island ("GHL") is found approximately 8,000 feet (2½ km) beyond the central northshore of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, separated from St. Thomas by the Leeward Passage. Little Hans Lollik and Pelican Cay lie to the north of Hans Lollik on the same shelf. The major part of the benthic zone around Hans Lollik is rocky and supports a dense diverse coral habitat. The name of the two islands means "Hans from Lolland" in Danish, and is believed to be derived from a sailor who went by that moniker. Terrestrial features The terrestrial features of the Hans Lollik group are functions of their natural topography, exposure to trade winds, and consequences of human occupation.
