Northline is a community district located in North Houston, Texas near I-45. It is east of Acres Homes and South of Aldine. The area is mostly a Hispanic Community. The main roads are Airline Drive and Little York Road. Northline Mall used to be located in the area. Interstate 45
Interstate 45 (I-45) is a major Interstate Highway located entirely within the US state of Texas. While most Interstate routes which have numbers ending in "5" are cross-country north–south routes, I-45 is comparatively short, with the entire route located in Texas. Additionally, it has the shortest length of all the interstates that end in a "5." It connects the cities of Dallas and Houston, continuing southeast from Houston to Galveston over the Galveston Causeway to the Gulf of Mexico. I-45 replaced U.S. Highway 75 (US 75) over its entire length, although portions of US 75 remained parallel to I-45 until its elimination south of Downtown Dallas in 1987. Acres Homes, Houston, Texas
Acres Homes is a neighborhood located in northwest Houston, Texas. The mile area is loosely bounded by the city limits and West Gulf Bank Road to the north; Pinemont Drive to the south; North Shepherd Drive to the east; and Alabonson Drive to the west. Historically, it has been predominantly African American. Unincorporated for decades, it was annexed to Houston in 1967. History Acres Homes was established during World War I, when Houston landowners began selling homesites in the area that were large enough to contain small gardens and raise chickens or farm animals. These large areas were often divided by the acre and not by the plot, hence the name "Acres Homes". The farm capabilities of the home sites attracted many rural settlers, who dug their own wells, and built small, sanitary houses. Aldine ( ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in unincorporated central Harris County, Texas, United States, located within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Houston. The population was 15,999 at the 2020 census. The community is located on the Hardy Toll Road, Union Pacific Railroad, and Farm to Market Road 525. The Aldine area is near Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the second largest aviation facility in Texas. Northline Commons
Northline Mall was a shopping mall in the Northline area of Houston, Texas, United States, at the northeast corner of Interstate 45, and Crosstimbers Road. It is the new location of Northline Commons. History Boston, Massachusetts-based Berenson Associates Inc. developed the mall in the 1960s. Northline Mall opened in 1963 as one of Houston's first premier weather-controlled malls. On January 31, 1997, a 20-foot wall on the south end of Northline Mall, where the former Joske's building was being demolished to make way for the incoming Magic Johnson Theatres cinema, collapsed, killing three people. Beginning in the 2000s Northline Mall was redeveloped from a traditional mall to an open air "power center" consisting of " big box" retail and general merchandise stores.
