Northfield Township, Michigan
Northfield Township is a civil township of Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,514 at the 2020 census. Communities * Emery is an unincorporated community located within the township at . Emery was settled as early as 1831 by Joshua Leland from Madison County, New York. He named the settlement after his son Emery Leland, who much later served as Northfield Township Supervisor and county judge. Emery was renamed Leland in 1884 when the Toledo, Ann Arbor & Northern Michigan Railroad built a station named Leland in the community. Despite the name change, a post office opened in the community under the name Emery on February 20, 1884 and operated until March 31, 1903. * Gravel Run is a former settlement that was founded by Roswell Curtis in 1842, and he became the first postmaster when the Gravel Run post office opened on May 18, 1850. Northfield Township is a township in Rice County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 780 at the 2000 census. Northfield Township was organized in 1858, and named for John W. North. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 38.9 square miles (100.8 km), all land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 780 people, 257 households, and 219 families residing in the township. The population density was 20.0 people per square mile (7.7/km). There were 264 housing units at an average density of 6.8/sq mi (2.6/km). The racial makeup of the township was 98.59% White, 0.26% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.38% from other races, and 0.26% from two or more races. Ramsey County is a county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 11,605. Its county seat is Devils Lake. History The Dakota Territory legislature created the county on January 4, 1873, with areas partitioned from Pembina County. The county was named for Alexander Ramsey, a U.S. Senator from Minnesota. The county government was not completed at that time, and the county was not attached to another county for administrative or judicial purposes. This situation continued until January 25, 1883, when the county government was effected. The county's boundaries were altered twice in March 1883, twice more in 1885, and in 1890.
