Northern Metropolitan Region
Northern Metropolitan Region is one of the eight electoral regions of Victoria, Australia, which elects five members to the Victorian Legislative Council (also referred to as the upper house) by proportional representation. The region was created in 2006 following the 2005 reform of the Victorian Legislative Council. The region comprises the Legislative Assembly districts of Broadmeadows, Brunswick, Essendon, Greenvale, Kalkallo, Melbourne, Northcote, Pascoe Vale, Preston, Richmond and Thomastown. Enver Erdogan is an Australian politician and Victorian Government Minister. He has been a Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Council since August 2019, representing Southern Metropolitan Region from 2019 to November 2022, and Northern Metropolitan Region from November 2022. Electoral District Of Kalkallo
The Electoral district of Kalkallo is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2021, and will come into effect at the 2022 Victorian state election. It covers an area in the north western suburbs of Melbourne and outlying northern towns that was previously covered by the districts of Yuroke and Yan Yean. It includes the suburbs of Craigieburn, Mickleham, Kalkallo, and the towns of Beveridge and Wallan. Nathan Murphy (Australian Politician)
Nathan Murphy (born 18 August 1977) is an Australian politician. On 9 March 2010, he was appointed to the Victorian Legislative Council as a Labor member for Northern Metropolitan Region to replace Theo Theophanous, who retired. Murphy was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and received his VCE from Parade College in Bundoora. He later qualified for a Bachelor of Arts at La Trobe University. In 2000 he was National Welfare Officer for the National Union of Students as a member of the Australian Labor Students, and in 2001 became an electorate officer for federal Labor MP Lindsay Tanner, transferring to Senator Gavin Marshall in 2002. Matthew Jason Guy (born 6 March 1974) is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal Party of Australia Member of the Parliament of Victoria since 2006, representing Northern Metropolitan Region in the Legislative Council (2006–2014) and Bulleen in the Legislative Assembly (2014–present). Theo Charles Theophanous (born 16 June 1948) is a former Australian politician. He entered politics in 1988 as a member of the Victorian Legislative Council. Theophanous served from 1988 to 2006 as one of the two members for Jika Jika Province, before the reforms to the Victorian Legislative Council that introduced proportional representation. He served as a Minister in the Kirner Government and as the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council from 1993 until 1999. Gregory John Barber (born 31 August 1966) is a former Australian politician, who was a Greens member of the Victorian Legislative Council between 2006 and 2017. 2006 Victorian State Election
The 2006 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 25 November 2006, was for the 56th Parliament of Victoria. Just over 3 million Victorians registered to vote elected 88 members to the Legislative Assembly and, for the first time, 40 members to the Legislative Council under a proportional representation system (Single transferable voting). The election was conducted by the independent Victorian Electoral Commission. The Labor Party government of Premier Steve Bracks, first elected in 1999, won a third consecutive term with 55 of the 88 lower house seats, down seven from the 62 Labor won in 2002. The electoral district of Thomastown is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. Richmond is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It is currently a 13 km² electorate in the inner east of Melbourne, encompassing the suburbs of Richmond, Cremorne, Burnley, Abbotsford, Collingwood, Clifton Hill, North Fitzroy and Fitzroy.
