Northern Ireland has competed in nineteen of the twenty-one Commonwealth Games beginning with the second games, held in 1934. Northern Ireland did not compete in 1930 (when there was a single team from Ireland) and in 1950. It differs from the Olympic Games where although it officially competes with England, Scotland and Wales as part of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, many athletes have represented the Ireland team. Northern Ireland's participation in the Commonwealth Games is managed by the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council. Lawn bowls at the 2014 Commonwealth Games were held at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre in Glasgow, Scotland from 24 July to 1 August 2014. Lawn bowls is one of ten core sports at the Commonwealth Games and has been continuously held at every Games since the 1930 British Empire Games, with the exception of the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica. Steven Donnelly
Steven Donnelly (born 7 September 1988) is an Irish professional boxer from Northern Ireland who represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as an amateur. Boxing career Donnelly represented Northern Ireland at the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi, India. Competing in the light welterweight division he faced Australian Luke Woods in the first round and was eliminated from the competition after a 0–10 loss. Following his defeat Donnelly was subsequently sent home from the Games by team management after drinking alcohol and causing a disturbance in the athlete's village. After this he became disillusioned with the sport and quit boxing for two years before eventually returning to the All Saints Boxing Club in Ballymena. Barbara Mary Cameron (born 16 April 1962) is a Northern Irish international lawn bowler and bowls coach. Bowls career International In 1993, she won the pairs gold medal with Phillis Nolan at the inaugural Atlantic Bowls Championships. Lisa Kearney (born 27 May 1989) is a Northern Irish retired judoka, who competed in the −48 kg category. Kearney, who lives and trains in Belfast, competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as a member of the Ireland Olympic team. Career Kearney started judo at primary school in order to join her friends. Whilst still a child in 1999, she won silver in the −27 kg category of the Northern Ireland Judo Championships.
