Mid-American Conference
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I collegiate athletic conference with a membership base in the Great Lakes region that stretches from Western New York to Illinois. Nine of the twelve full member schools are in Ohio and Michigan, with single members located in Illinois, Indiana, and New York. For football, the MAC participates in the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision. 1990 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament
The 1990 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament began on March 11 and ended on April 1. The tournament featured 48 teams. The Final Four consisted of Virginia, Stanford, Auburn, and Louisiana Tech, with Stanford defeating Auburn 76-60 to win its first NCAA title. Stanford's Jennifer Azzi was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Notable events Forty-eight teams started the tournament on the eleventh of March. Ruston, Louisiana
Ruston is a small city and the parish seat of Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is the largest city in the Eastern Ark-La-Tex region. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 21,859, reflecting an increase of 6.4 percent from the count of 20,546 counted in the 2000 Census. The Purdue Boilermakers women's basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Big Ten Conference. Purdue is rich in tradition and history, holding the record for Big Ten Championships, along with annually ranking in the top 10 nationally in home attendance. The Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represents Texas Tech University in basketball. Texas Tech competes in NCAA Division I, and has been a charter member of the Big 12 Conference since its first season in 1996. West Lafayette () is a city in Wabash Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, United States, about northwest of the state capital of Indianapolis and southeast of Chicago. The NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, currently featuring 68 women's college basketball teams from the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to determine the national championship. The tournament was preceded by the AIAW women's basketball tournament, which was organized by the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) from 1972 to 1982. Basketball was one of 12 women's sports added to the NCAA championship program for the 1981–82 school year, as the NCAA engaged in battle with the AIAW for sole governance of women's collegiate sports. 2023 Women's Basketball Invitational
The 2023 Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) is a single-elimination tournament consisting of eight NCAA Division I teams not selected to participate in the 2023 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament or 2023 Women's National Invitation Tournament. The 2023 field was announced on March 13. The 2023 edition of the tournament was played on the campus of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky at the Clive M. Beck Center. This was the third year in a row the tournament consisted of an eight-team field played over four days, with a winners and consolation bracket, guaranteeing three games for all teams. There was no winning percentage requirement to compete in the tournament. Cal Baptist won the tournament in their first-ever appearance. 2017 Women's National Invitation Tournament
The 2017 Women's National Invitation Tournament was an annual single-elimination tournament of 64 NCAA Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2017 Women's NCAA tournament. The tournament committee announced the 64-team field on March 13, following the selection of the NCAA Tournament field. The tournament began on March 15 and ended on April 1, with the championship game televised on the CBS Sports Network. In the championship game, the Michigan Wolverines defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 89–79, in triple overtime. Participants The 2017 Postseason WNIT field consists of 32 automatic invitations – one from each conference – and 32 (or more) at-large teams. Kathi Bennett
Kathi Bennett (born January 31, 1963) is an American women's basketball coach. She is the former head coach of the Northern Illinois Huskies women's basketball team, a position she held from 2010 to 2015. Biography Bennett is the daughter of former University of Wisconsin–Green Bay Phoenix, Wisconsin Badgers and Washington State Cougars head coach Dick Bennett. Her brother is former NBA player and now Virginia Cavaliers head coach Tony Bennett. She graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point and the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, where she played on the women's basketball teams at both schools. Liz Galloway McQuitter
Liz Galloway McQuitter (born August 15, 1955) has held positions as head coach and assistant coach women's basketball at the collegiate level. In April, 2015, she ended her career in athletics retiring as head coach of the Rockdale High School in Rockdale, Texas. McQuitter served as head coach at Mundelein College (1984–1986), Lamar (1990–1994), and Northern Illinois (1994–1998). McQuitter took over the head coaching position at Lamar after the resignation of Al Barbre following an NCAA investigation which ended with two years probation and other penalties for the team. In spite of the cloudy start, McQuitter's team tied for first-place finish in the Sun Belt regular season. The Lady Cardinals were not eligible for post-season play that year. The 1994 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament featured 64 teams for the first time ever. The Final Four consisted of North Carolina, Purdue, Louisiana Tech, and Alabama, with North Carolina defeating Louisiana Tech 60–59 to win its first NCAA title on a 3-point shot by Charlotte Smith as time expired.
