Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". The objective of the defensive team (referred to as the fielding team) is to prevent batters from becoming runners, and to prevent runners' advance around the bases. Ingle Farm is an established, residential suburb, with some parklands, of about 8,500 people in the South Australian capital city of Adelaide. It is located at the base of the Mount Lofty Ranges foothills, around 12 kilometres north-east of Adelaide's central business district. It covers an area of 4.47 km2 with a population density of 19.41 people per hectare in 2001. History James Rowe arrived in South Australia 22 Apr 1837 on the "South Australian", spending two years on Kangaroo Island then settling with his family in the Ingle Farm area in 1848. They initially took up in section 3030, Hundred of Yatala in 1849, using the land primarily for farming wheat, barley, peas and hay.
