Northern Calloway
Northern James Calloway (September 10, 1948 – January 9, 1990) was an American actor and singer, best known for playing David on ''Sesame Street'' from 1971 to 1989. He was institutionalized in a psychiatric hospital and died less than eight months after his last appearance on the show. Career Theatre Calloway graduated from New York City's High School of Performing Arts and joined the Lincoln Center Repertory Company in 1966. There, he performed in ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' (Stratford Festival, 1968) and ''The Three Musketeers'' (Stratford Festival, 1968). He played the lead in the New Federal Theater production of ''The Louis Armstrong Story''. He became a Broadway stage actor in 1968 appearing in ''Tiger at the Gates'' (Broadway, 1968) and ''The Me Nobody Knows'' (Broadway, 1970). ''Sesame Street'' is an American educational children's television series that combines live-action, sketch comedy, animation and puppetry. Whose Life Is It Anyway? (play)
''Whose Life Is It Anyway?'' is a play by Brian Clark adapted from his 1972 television play of the same title, which starred Ian McShane. The stage version premiered in 1978 at the Mermaid Theatre in London, and subsequently opened on Broadway in 1979. The play involves a sculptor who is paralysed. Plot Set in a hospital room, the action revolves around Ken Harrison (Claire Harrison in some later productions), a sculptor by profession, who was paralysed from the neck down ( quadriplegia) in a car accident and is determined to be allowed to die. Clark presents arguments both in favour of and opposing euthanasia and to what extent government should be allowed to interfere in the life of a private citizen. In portraying Ken as an intelligent man with a useless body, he leaves the audience with conflicting feelings about his desire to end his life. The Muppets are a group of puppet characters created by Jim Henson, many for the purpose of appearing on the children's television program ''Sesame Street''. Some of the best known Muppets on ''Sesame Street'' include Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, Grover, and Elmo. Henson's involvement in ''Sesame Street'' began when he and Joan Ganz Cooney, one of the creators of the show, met in the summer of 1968, at one of the show's five three-day curriculum planning seminars in Boston. James Brown
James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, dancer, musician, record producer and bandleader. ''Don't Eat the Pictures: Sesame Street at the Metropolitan Museum of Art'' (or simply ''Don't Eat the Pictures'') is a one-hour ''Sesame Street'' special that aired on PBS on November 16, 1983. The title comes from a song in the special, "Don't Eat the Pictures", sung by Cookie Monster. It was available as a video tape by Random House in 1987, and it was re-released on VHS by Sony Wonder in 1996 and on DVD in 2011. ''A Special Sesame Street Christmas'' is a 1978 CBS Christmas special, made the same year as the better-known '' Christmas Eve on Sesame Street''. The special was first broadcast on Friday, December 8, 1978, at 8 PM ET on CBS, pre-empting ''Wonder Woman'' that week, starring Leslie Uggams. The special features only three of the ''Sesame Street'' Muppets: Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird, and Barkley the dog. Barkley is played by gymnast Toby Towson. The puppet used for the special was different from the one used for the series, making him five feet tall, or higher, at times in the special. Will Lee
William Lee (born William Lubovsky; August 6, 1908 – December 7, 1982) was an American actor who appeared in numerous television and film roles, but was best known for playing Mr. Hooper, the original store proprietor of the eponymous Hooper's Store.
